I used to be a fan of Bistrot du Coin, but that was back in its early days. Unfortunately, the service has gotten worse, so I rarely go there--only at the insistence of friends now--for dinner or brunch.
The best part of this casual French restaurant is its lively atmosphere. Great for people watching and getting to know your neighbors, because you'll be seated practically right on top of them.
The food varies. Personally, I don't think the brunch here is anything special. I will say that the French onion soup is out of this world delicious! The steak-frites is acceptable, but nothing to write home about. If you're into mussels, they're also OK. The problem again is the service because if there is something wrong with your food or your server forgets to bring your order after almost an hour, you're out of luck. You'll get no apologies from the waitstaff or manager. Even though the service isn't great in Europe, I have to say, it's better than what I've experienced at Bistrot du Coin.
If you're in the Dupont area and are in the mood for French fare and like a bustling atmosphere, you might give this place a try. Just bring your patience and don't expect too much and you'll be fine!
