Description: Bistrot du Coin opened its doors on Memorial Day of 2000 by Yannis Felix and Michel Verdon. The motto is French, Fun and Friendly, this is our guideline to bring you the best experience ever at Bistrot Du Coin. The word Bistrot is defined in French as a neighborhood restaurant where you can eat good food at a fair price. The typical color of a French Bistrot is pale yellow to brown (otherwise known as Bistre) because the walls used to get dirty quickly from nicotine. Bistrot Du Coin is also known for its parties, three times a year to celebrate famous French events such as Bastille day on July 14th, The Beaujolais Nouveau on the third thursday of November or The New Year's Eve.

“bohemian oasis”
Reviewed November 22, 2012

A great little place five minutes from Dupont Circle with a lively, bohemian vibe. Mussels are the specialty here (they literally arrive in buckets), but there's plenty tasty stuff for all palettes, with an excellent wine list to complement the fare. It's noisy, and perpetually crowded, but the owner/managers are amiable restauranteurs, and tables closer to the open front allow for a conversation that doesn't have to be shouted.

Found this place for a late lunch. Food was great and the lunch prices were very reasonable. Service was a little slow, but wewe were not in a hurry

“Good food, reasonable prices, bad service”
Reviewed November 14, 2012

On 3 visits to Bistro du Coin, I've always been pleased with the tasty food: raclette, canard (duck), fish, tournedos, couscous. Dishes are more fatty (cream/butter etc...) than regular French food (I'm French born and raised) but very tasty.

The service is bad. In 3 visits, I've never seen the hostess smile. The waiters are unfriendly. One especially was very rude to us, patronizing and had the worse mouth breath ever!!

I guess this sums up a stereotypical French experience!! Haha.

“Didn't find it as great as the reviews”
Reviewed November 11, 2012

We had just returned from France and happened to be visiting DC. We were told to go to this restaurant because it was authentic french cooking. It was close but not the same. Actually, the food had too much butter and cream. It was too rich, it there is such a thing. Everyone seemed to be ordering the mussels, as did one person in our party. They were very good. But it's not a restaurant we would go to every time we visited DC. In addition, a glass of wine, while priced what one would expect, was served in a very small glass. $18 for two glasses of wine that would have been one glass in another restaurant. Service was excellent.
