“Wonderful small place in DC!”
Reviewed October 28, 2013

Very creative, very small and cozy place in DC on P Street. With only room for 32 patrons it is indeed very cozy, but the chef is highly creative. Menu changes daily (I think). Prix Fixe for 4 courses @ $85, wine pairing $55 supplement. Well worth it!

Starts with Antipasti - no choices here. We received 5 dishes, a couple of individuals, and 3 to share. Amazing. Highlights included the Burrata, the frito misto of sardines, onion & lemon. Bread basket (baked onsite) was also first rate.

Primi for me was suckling pig ravioli. Secondi, roasted squab with an outstanding accompaniment of rapini, currants and pinenuts. Simply fabulous. Next was a 3 cheese assortment, plated individually, with a wonderful green tomato jam. They are quite proud of the cheeses, and rightly so.

Dessert was the only thing not 'special' although the house made ice cream was superb!

Service was professional and attentive.

Not inexpensive, but highly recommended.

“Fine dining but limited menu selections”
Reviewed October 6, 2013

Obelisk offers an eclectic menu, fine food but a very limited number of appetizers and entrees. The evening we visited the entrees were limited to veal, squab and tuna. The price fixed menu is billed as three courses but it's really more than that, with a variety of delicious appetizers appearing one after the other. The wine list is extensive, featuring excellent (and pricey) Italian wines that one doesn't see often in the United States. The decor is nice but nothing special for a small second-floor restaurant in one of Washington's busiest areas. Servers are knowledgeable about the food and go out of their way to deal with patrons who are having trouble finding something they want to eat. (One group apparently couldn't; they left shortly after reviewing the menu.) Some may see it as evidence of eccentricity but I found the absence of a sign outside the building mildly annoying.

Reviewed September 29, 2013 via mobile

Following a good recomendation from Zagat and tripadvisor,I went last sep28. Small restaurant, staff friendly and the food very good. Be aware because they served a lot of antipast and I tasted extraordinay tomato. Well,at the end we were full, with no space for deserts. Cost $85 per person plus $70 for pairing wine

“Outstanding dining experience”
Reviewed August 5, 2013

Delicious home made Italian cuisine based on fresh seasonal ingredients. Casual, romantic setting in a very comfortable environment where you can easily converse with your dinner companions. There is one window table for four that overlooks the vibrant street scene below from an elevated vantage point. Be sure to bring the address as there is no sign street side and you could easily walk on by. Very personal service expedited in a smart professional manner. The antipasti parade of dishes that are chef's choice provides an impressive beginning. Ours included home made burata, chicken liver pudding, eggplant crostini and fried squash blossoms . Set price is five courses for $85 with wine pairing for an additional $55 (optional). The well prepared variety of the primi and secondi selections as well as the surprise element that extends to the cheese course is a nice touch. Distinctive house made desserts including a fine chocolate cake with fresh mint sauce put the final touch on a memorable dining experience.

“Wonderful experience”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

I booked a table here as a birthday gift and so I did not personally go, but the couple who did raved & raved. They especially loved the beef and the wine pairing. The restaurant was very helpful and kind getting everything set up.
