Returned for La Chaumiere's wonderful oyster and Dover sole!
Well worth the price. Not a single bone in the fish and so delicately flavored. The souffles are not to be missed, too.

“The diner who came in from the cold”
Reviewed January 13, 2012

It was a chilly rainy evening when we arrived at LaChaumiere for dinner. We were greeted with a warm smile and as we entered the dining room-a warm fire--this set the tone for our evening. Although they were very busy we were never rushed, and the waiter made suggestions as to what I could eat due to food allergies, which they had noted and mentioned upon our arrival. My friend had the mussels in garlic butter and needed extra bread for all the wonderful juices. I had the trout which literally melted in my mouth and my husband had the salmon which looked delicious. They made sure they asked about dessert in time to order the special ones if we wanted, and they also quoted the prices of the days specials--which I find very helpful.

“Went for Restaurant Week”

The Boeuf Braise Provencale (Beef Short Ribs) are amazing! The tenderness and flavor makes this french dish a competitive selection. The service here is excellent!

“cozy, old-style French”
Reviewed January 10, 2012

Very good food, fun people watching, prices not unreasonable. Service was decent (single diners often get ignored, which wasn't the case here, even though it was Restaurant Week and quite busy). Some of the produce wasn't quite as fresh as it could have been, though this may have been a Restaurant Week phenomenon (I ordered off the regular menu).

“Visiting this great restaurant has become a tradition for us every time we're in DC.”
Reviewed January 6, 2012

La Chaumiere is a great French restaurant in Georgetown. It's a small place with great service and great food. I've eaten there probably 10 times over the past 10-12 years, and have not had a single occasion where I didn't love the food! Inside the resaurant is just like you'd expect to see in a French "Inn". Fireplace, stucco, wood beams, wine bottles.

The Angus Beef Medallions are probably my favorite. along with all the appetizers, and desserts.

You'll need a reservation, so call ahead.
