Description: Located in the heart of Georgetown, il Canale offers the most authentic Neapolitan pizza in DC, thin-crust made by our Italian pizzaiolos cooked in a wood-fired oven imported directly from Italy. The kitchen offers a menu that brings our native country to your table with every selection-antipasti, pastas, seafood, meat, fresh Bufala mozzarella from Italy, and so much more. The attractive blue-lit, full bar specializes in carefully selected Italian wines. In warm weather, dine alfresco at the sidewalk tables or on the roof-top terrazza overlooking the Georgetown scene. Be sure to check out our lunch menu, featuring three delicious new paninis made with our fresh bread baked instantly in our wood fire brick oven and four new pasta items. Our happy hour, from 4-6 pm Monday-Friday, features not only reduced wine, beer, and Italian aperitivi, but also amazing homemade items for extremely reasonable prices! (Happy Hour restricted to bar area). Wheelchair accessible. GlutenFree options are available

What a pleasant surprise!
The pizza was delicious. The ovens and mozzarella are imported from Italy. The pasta was served al dente and no one was disappointed. We are from NYC and Italy and have very high standards. The only disappointment was having some of the plates taken away while the rest of us were eating but when we pointed it out, they graciously gave us delicious cannoli! I highly recommend this easy going place. The host and waitress were most attentive and the atmosphere was nice too! Decorated ovens Gaudi' style (as in famous Spanish architect) and exposed bricks.

I like that place for its nice location and great pizza, one of the best I had in DC. Food is all great and wine list pretty big. Service is great and staff very attentive. On Open Table were booked for 7 pm for the next two weeks...

A real Neapolitan wood fired beehive oven greets you at the entrance of this lively Georgetown pizzeria. The young chic clientele give the place the air of a "date night" spot but they accommodated our family with grace and attentive service. All the food was excellent from the lovely appetizers, chewy focaccia bread, hand made excellently prepared pappardelle pasta and shrimp in a delicate fish sauce and of corse excellent pizza with varied toppings.
I found overall the food prices were not high and the portions were generous. The individual pizza's for $15 were too large for any of us to eat. The $18 Pasta with shrimp was not an excessive amount of food but not a small portion by any means.
My only complaint was the wine prices. We paid $40 for a very nice Cantele Primitivo that retails for $12 to $15; as I understand it industry practice is double not triple the retail price. Stick to the beer or mixed drinks.
Overall well worth a visit.

What a nice place to enjoy lunch w the family. Menu has a great selection. Service was good and so was the food. Fried calamari was just right. Tomato sauce had the perfect amount of spice. Nice Caesar salad, calzone and margarita pizza. Eggplant parm to start was a bit oily. I would definitely return to try other menu items.
