My husband and I read about Ben's Chili Bowl and decided we had to give it a try. So very happy we did!..Tons of celebrities and politicians (including Obama) have eaten there. They are the original home of "half smokes", which is a pork and beef sausage on a steamed bun covered with homemade chili and onions. They cost just $5.95. Absolutely delicious! They also have hot dogs, hamburgers, chili and salads. The french fries were great and so were the milkshakes. Good bye diet that day. Not at all fancy, but the people were friendly and service was excellent. If ever back in Washington, I'd be there in a heartbeat!

Ben's half smokes are awesome. We made a trip to the north side of DC just to try one. The hype is legit.

Had to try Bens Chili bowl. If these are hotdogs then I don't know what I was eating before. The taste is great, the employees are very cool.

Anytime I'm in DC, I stop in Ben's. Have always enjoyed the half smokes with chili and cheese, mustard, and onions. Sometimes I'll also get the chili burger with cheese as well, like I did for this review. didn't disappoint

One thing I will say is that prices for a quick burger or chili dog are higher than in comparable other cities(I can compare it to The Varsity here in ATL for example), but the half smoke is a bigger hotdog. Sometimes service can be slow, like it was this last time, but they are super friendly and pretty efficient once you actually get to put in your order. If you eat there, sit in one of the booths for faster service. But it was the usual good Ben's experience. Also try their milkshakes. If you go to this location, it's right across from the Metro train station & the Lincoln Theater

There is no Chili Dog like a Ben's Chili Dog. The best in town and the best out of town. Chili Dog with mustard and fresh onions. It doesn't get any better than that.
