If you are a whining picky hipster foodie, just stay away to open up tablespace for the likes of me!!! I have been here multiple times, and have added this to my "must eat here list" when I am in DC. When I crave the comfort of good hearty traditional italian food and service, this is what I have in mind. The only downside is that it can get crowded, so consider reservations. Brisket torts are amazing - one of the best things I've ever put in my fat mouth. The bread - wow! Dessert choices - impressive. Touristy maybe, but this is DC! If you don't want tourists, then come to Alabama for some catfish and barbeque.

Definitely a boisterous atmosphere! Not exactly what I was expecting (quiet, intimate evening with my honey in a small authentic restaurant), but still enjoyable (and authentic). Decor is a bit dark and very Victorian...with a million or so Easter Bunnies hanging from the ceiling! The place is huge...one descends the stairs and you think you are entering into a small upscale place and then the noise hits you! It's a great place for groups and there are lots of large tables.

All staff sport an Italian name tag, even if they aren't Italian! Three "pasta mamas" hand make pasta 24/7 and one is always in the front window for the lunch and dinner crowds. Bread bakers bake throughout the night so everything is fresh. Even the laundry is done on-site.

Food was delicious - we split a spinach ravioli (the standard was 6 pieces, but they gave us 4 each) and a Caesar salad (they made it extra large for sharing). Fresh bread landed on the table with a small bowl of toasted rosemary, basil and chilies to mix in with some olive oil and balsamic vinegar. A bottle of sparkling water and two glasses of house wines rounded out the evening. Complementary amaretto or sambuca with toasted coffee beans was served at the end of the meal. Bill came to $70 with tax. No room for dessert. Overall a fun night.

We dined at Filomena again but this time we brought a family who had never dined there. We reserved a nice large table. One of our guest even described some ingredients and a special dish not on the menu was created for him. There are so many delicious menu items it is always hard to choose but there are a couple you can't go wrong with if you order them. The first is Festivale in Venice with squid ink pasta, another is Linguini Cardinale with lobster. This dish is quite rich though so be prepared to sleep it off later. One of my new favorites is Ravioli Matrimonia which is large cheese stuffed ravioli with a mild marinara sauce and their deliciously seasoned meatballs. This is truly Italian comfort food. Watch out though because next come the desserts! They have a large selection and they are some of the best in D.C. The portions are enormous and not for the faint of heart so be prepared to share. Filomena is truly one of the best things about living in Georgetown because it is our neighborhood gem. Our family appreciates that we are always treated like family and the two maître d's Dino and Mac are truly glad to see us. If you are traveling to DC or live in the area and are looking for a fabulous meal Filomena is it!

We visited Filomena's while on our honeymoon and it was one of the nicest meals we've ever had. We turned up without a reservation on a busy night, they told us to come back in 45 mins so we popped down to Martin's bar (where JFK proposed to Jackie) for a drink while we waited & we were so glad we did.

Filomena's is a great spot, the atmosphere is great, the waiters are always bustling around the place but service was still great. We had the freshly made ravioli (by the mamma's upstairs) & garlic bread to start then lasagne & parmagiana for mains and everything was delicious, we had no room for dessert as the portions are massive but we enjoyed every bite. After our meal a bottle of amaretto & sambuca & fresh coffee beans were put on our table and we were told to help ourselves. We could have stayed there all night!

If I'm ever back in DC I will definitely be visiting here again.

Have been dinning there, at least 3-4 times a year for the past 10 years and received good service every time. Thank you Dino, staff and owners for all the good food and memories.
