Old Ebbitt serves a diverse selection of food including steaks, seafood, pasta, sandwiches, and also features an Oyster Bar with oysters form both coasts. This is a nice restaurant near the DC attractions. It's not too far from the White House, Washington Monument and the Smithsonian Museums. This restaurant is a very busy place and reservations are a must! The first time we stopped we were told the wait for a table was about 1.5 hours. We later reserved on line through Open Table. The restaurant has apparently been around for over 100 years. However, they've been at their present location for 30 years. Still, it has an old time ambiance with an interesting duck hunting theme. We found the service to be good and the food was excellent! They have a nice selection of oysters on their menu if you're into that. We felt that the prices were reasonable considering the location.

We ate here last weekend after a friend recommended it. We enjoyed some museums first and decided to walk down about 6:30 pm only to be told there was a 2 hour wait. Starving and disappointed we put our name on the list and hoped for bar seats to open up. We were able to snag four seats in the bar on the left (w/in about 10 minutes) where we were greeted by Elizabeth the most awesome bartender ever! We ordered a round of drink and appetizers and with much surprise, our buzzer was going off after only 30 minutes of being on the wait list. Because we were having so much fun, we opted to let our table go and enjoy dinner at the bar. By the way, this happened to several people we saw at the bar so I don't know why they were telling everyone there was a 2 hour wait... EXCELLENT food and drinks. Great service, Would definitely go back and highly recommend.

The reviews are spot on about the Old Ebbitt.
We landed there during oyster happy hour and had a few glasses of wine with our dozens of oysters. The place was busy, but the service and seafood was fresh and tasty. The Bartenders were very friendly and professional. It has a cool atmosphere and interesting old décor inside.
It’s not cheap, but definitely worth a visit if you’re in DC romping around the mall and museums and looking for a nice place to stop and relax for a spell.
Recommend- YES!

Just experienced the Old Ebbitt tonight. The atmosphere was really good, and the service was of very good quality for a places with so many tables. The trout was a good surprise, but the clam chowder a bit disappointing. my kids got some nice pork chops and petite filet mignon.
It reasonably priced for the location, quality and quantity of food.
Don't go there without reservation for diner! I would also advice to ask for a table in the main room, as it is much nicer.
