Description: The lifestyle and food culture celebrated on an estancia, a large South American vineyard estate, is the inspiration for Victor Albisu's flagship restaurant in the Chinatown neighborhood of Washington, D.C. The airy, 174-seat agrarian space is home to a meat-driven, wine-centric menu that is a product of Albisu's Latin American roots and travels throughout Argentina, Chile, Peru, and Uruguay. An extensive selection of steaks and various slow-roasted meats served with vibrant herb sauces, such as chimichurris and fresh salsas is the backbone of Del Campo's menu. Albisu's Peruvian heritage shows itself in the form of a Latin raw bar of ceviches, tiraditos and crudos. The wine program leans heavily towards South American varietals, which are decanted in traditional Argentinean carafes.

Nice ambiance, good selection of cuisines to choose from (Peruvian ceviches, Argentinean or Brazilian cuts, etc) good wine inventory, cocktails, the whole package. Just be aware that this great dining experience will cost you.

“Outstanding Food--Noisy as Hell!”
Reviewed February 23, 2014

Del Campo is what has become all too typical of great DC restaurants: a fabulous chef, creative and delicious food, solicitous service, and a decibel level that defies description. It is virtually impossible to hear anyone at the table other than the person seated next to you.

Having said that, I'd go here again. Fabulous steak and starters....I'm eager to try other things on the menu.

“Incredible Steaks and Chicken”
Reviewed February 3, 2014

Although we had to wait an hour past our reservation time to be seated, I am still giving our dinner at Del Campo a 5. The food was that good.

We arrived at Del Campo right at our 7:00 p.m reservation time. The hostess said our table would be ready in a few minutes and suggested we have a drink in the bar. After several inquiries by both members of our party and the bartender, we were seated at 8:00 p.m. After a short review of the appetizers section of menu, we decided on the wagyu steak empanadas. While we were waiting on the empanadas, our server brought us four servings of salmon ceviche. The ceviche was incredibly tasty and all four members of party were impressed. The string of excellent tastes continued when the empanadas arrived at our table.

For entrees, we ordered the hanger steak, the Peruvian chicken, and two of us split the 48 oz Tomahawk ribeye. Both the steaks were cooked to perfection as ordered and seasoned perfectly. The ribeye was melt in your mouth tender. The chicken was moist and also melt in your mouth tender. (Rumor has it the chicken is cooked with duck fat in order to keep it moist.) Our party split sides of smoked mushrooms and brussel sprouts and everyone enjoyed them.

An additional feature of Del Campo our party took advantage of is the restaurant's corkage policy. Each reservation can bring in up to two bottles of wine. The corkage fee is $25 per bottle. Although the dessert menu had many appealing items, no one in our party had any room left to enjoy any of them.

“Good, but would only go here for Restaurant Week”
Reviewed January 21, 2014

My husband and I enjoyed our overall experience here, but would only go back for Restaurant week or happy hour. I have lived in Argentina, and was looking forward to an asado experience. We ordered off the 3 course restaurant week menu and weren't disappointed. All the food tasted good. The drinks were good as well. The main issue I had was the prices of the food that was outside of the restaurant week menu. If I am going to spend a lot of money on a steak, (a $300 or so meal for 2 people) its not going to be at a South American asado place, it's going to be at Bourbon steak in the Four Seasons. I think that the food was nice, but not high-end steak house nice. I would go back here for the happy hour though! One last note was that our server gave us two vouchers for a "free bebida" at the end of the meal. We were pleasantly surprised and decided to finish our evening with a drink at the bar. Well, to our amusement, the coupon was good for a non alcoholic beverage, aka a soda. I mean, what s the point??
