These stores are located over many cities and allow the shopper to purchase as much or as little as they like. There is hot & cold buffet food to go. A supermarket, a bakery, fruit market and deli. You can also buy your food and eat there. Good food cheaper than a restaurant.

With not so many restaurants in the Foggy Bottom area, this Whole foods market has really picked up the slack offering full meals and get breads and desserts.

We enjoyed a croissant and an apple pastry while waiting for our cousin to finish up at the hospital. Also we shopped for some items and found the selection quite broad, including fresh flowers. Coffee line is a bit confusing to newcomers because you can pay for just coffee there, but the signage is absent!

Very nice place to shop or just enjoy a snack.

If you have a Whole Foods in your "comfortable suburban neighborhood", and you travel to the "Big City" and see this one it will shock you to the core. The way things are jammed into this store is so unappealing. AND THE LONG LINES... where you have to wait until a register number is called just blows my mind. Not for me. I am going to embrace the manager at my Whole Foods back home and tell them how much I appreciate them! LOL!

We were staying in a horrible hotel, where the breakfast was inedible, so Whole Foods was a convenient place for us to visit every morning ; we purchased coffee, danish and muffins, which we consumed on the spot - they have a decent sit-down area, provide cutlery and napkins, clean toilets.
They have an excellent selection of up-market quality food. It is way more expensive than your average supermarket, but it suited our purpose very well.
