We have just spent 6 nights at the Hampton Inn Whitehouse and loved it! Everything was just perfect with the hotel itself, the room, the facilities, and the great staff. This hotel really does everything right. The room was air-conditioned (the AC could be turned off and on - it was really appreciated in the hot spell!), spacious, clean and well equipped; bedding was clean and comfortable; the wifi was free and worked well; the breakfast was fabulous with nice hot and cold items, fresh fruit etc - all served in a large bright lounge area of the foyer; the business centre was great for printing out tickets etc; and there were also lots of nice touches like free 24-hour coffee and tea, afternoon cookies, and nice Neutrogena lotion, soap and shampoo as room amenities. The hotel has a nice vibe, and the staff are so helpful and friendly. Location wise, the hotel is convenient to all the main sights which really are all walking distance. There are lots of eateries etc in the area.

If we had to name a downside, we would have to mention the street noise - and light sleepers could have a problem. Interesting that the hotel does provide ear plugs, which we didn't use. The noise probably starts around 6 in the morning...and the level and variety of sound is quite intrusive although we did start to get used to it. There was certainly no sleeping past 7am. We even had a trumpet player on the street a couple of mornings. On level 11, we thought we might be away from the noise, but it still could get quite fierce.

But apart from that, we would recommend the hotel and would stay there again. It is a bit pricey we thought, but that may just be the standard for DC!

The highlight of our visit was seeing/hearing the Naval Band playing on the Tuesday night at the Naval Memorial. Such a great experience in the open air enjoying the big sounds of such a talented band and singers. They played modern and traditional music - the Jersey Boys tribute was a standout! Don't miss it!

The other suggestion we would make to visitors - if you use the shared shuttle van service to get from Dulles airport to your DC hotel, make sure you work out with the driver what order you will be in the drop-off. Our ride took 2 hours - we the last to be dropped in town, and the driver should have dropped us when he first got into the city - instead of taking us way out into the suburbs and then returning back to the city. His response to our concern was that we should have spoken up....a bit difficult when you are a visitor and don't really know the area.

Room Tip: The traffic noise is the one real downside of this hotel...not easy to escape anywhere.

+ Great location just next to the White House and close to the metro.
+ The room was large and the bed comfortable.
+ Friendly staff.
+ A small shop in the lobby where you could buy snacks, tootbrushes, etc.
+ Coffe, tea and hot chocolate was served in the lobby, 24 hours a day.

- The breakfast could have been better.
- No fridge in the room.
- The location is good, but the surroundings are kind of boring.
- The view from our room was a brick wall.

The location is very convenient, this is modern hotel, large and comfortable rooms. Staff is friendly and willingfull to help you. The price is adequate. The only problem is noise insulation, I was at teh 8th floor facing H Av and from 5am onwards the noise from traffic is really heavy.

Room Tip: Don´t choose a room facing H Avenue

Brand spanking new with great staff. Rooms have new AC arrangement that keeps room evenly cooled and dehumidified. Location is unmatched for proximity to the Mall. There for 5 days and could walk to all govt. buildings and monuments.

Located near many Washington attractions, this well managed and well maintained property served as our base of operations on our vacation. The staff was friendly, helpful and responsive. Housekeeping supported our special requests. The breakfast area was large, attractive, and had a variety of selections that were replenished promptly. The fitness center was clean, had free weights, towels, and individually wrapped headphones available for use.

By virtue of its location, front rooms are exposed to street noise. Parking is expensive. The hotel only offers valet parking.

As part of the Hilton family, procedures make it awkward to coordinate back-to-back reservations made by reward points and currency. Check-in and Internet access are affected.

Hampton Inn rooms only have a stall shower, but no tub. It would make the hotel more attractive to have an in-room bath tub.

The hotel did not have a bell hop on duty at 5:00 AM. A valet was summoned instead to assist us with our luggage.
