Description: This family-owned market just opened in Georgetown as a delicatessen and corner market. The father and son team cut all the fresh meat for the store, and create artisan sausages, pates, and proscuittos themselves. Best sandwiches in Georgetown!

I was told about this small butcher/sandwich/local micro grocery in Gerorgetown by a friend. Driving through DC I decided to check it out. WOW!!, a real local butcher with wonderful looking, though pricy meat selections and a list of intersting sandwich selections. The small place, with a nice selection of produce, locally baked breads, cookies and high end cooking accompaniments, was fairly busy for a late Tuesday afternoon. After looking over the sandwich selections I ordered the Pastrami and the Four Meat Grinder. When I was handed my order of these two monsterous sandwiches I could not believe the weight, I had to make sure I only got two sandwiches. Driving home to the Baltimore area I had to endure the smoky meaty smells of the two delights I had in the seat next to me. I got home and waited for my wife to arrive after work to dig into the sandwiches for dinner. As a foodie, I was amazed at the size and aromas of these two sandwiches. The smoky pastrami, hand cut, piled high and weighing at least a pound, was still warm with just the right amount of mustard on a succulent, chewy, dark pumpernickel bread. The charred ends reminded me of the "burnt ends" on great barbecue. The meat was moist, juicy and succulent. The Four Meat Grinder, salami, coppa, mortadella and sopressata with provolone, lettuce and tomato was on a locally made hoagie roll that was crunchy on the outside and held up well to the sandwich ingredients. This behemoth of a sandwich had a great flavor from the premium meats which were piled high. Between the two of us we ate only 1/2 of each sandwich. Jaime, the proprietor, and his staff are very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. This is a terrific find and definately well worth the visit. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

I love deli sandwiches, I love a pastrami and/or corned beef from Katz and make sure to include the time needed to have that SoHo treat every trip to NYC. I have found a closer alternative in Stachowski's. The price is $11.99 (beats NYC) the size is way too much - my arm was getting tired as I held the sandwich. The taste - INCREDIBLE. The bread was a a dark rye, thick cut, crust was thick and chewy - yum. The mustard was great, and just enough. The pastrami - WOW - piled high, cut thick and by hand, the marbling - perfect. A disclaimer on the sandwich I had - the fat was ever present and melt in your mouth. 10 years ago I would have thought this disgusting, but my taste buds have changed, as too my waist line, and perfectly prepared meat with succulent fat is a delight to me now. If the thoughts just expressed turn you off you better not order the pastrami or ask if they can give you lean cuts. The store has one small table, so plan to eat at home or at the park down the street, or come at an odd hour and hope there is room at the table. I eat too much and know it. After 1/2 of the sandwich I could have stopped and been happy. I had no place to store the second half and to throw it away would be a grevious sin, so I pushed through. Be warned, have two people or a plan. Location is sort of out of the way - about a 10 minute walk from the DuPont Circle Metro stop on P St. The walk is needed once you have experienced the Pastrami Sandwich to beat all pastrami sandwiches. I will eagerly go back for more MEAT!
