If you are planning to visit Washington DC be sure to make your reservations with DC Trails! They are an amazing tour company! They pick you up AT your hotel!!! They take you to all the major hostorical sights! The night tour is so wonderful and words can't described the grandure of a night tour! We went on 3 tours with is company. One a night tour, one a grand tour, and one to Mt. Vernon. The grand tour was amazing and so perfect! The Mt. Vernon tour was just as wonderful!

The first tour we took was about 4- 4 1/2 hours long. The grand tour was from 9 til about 5:30 and included lunch at the mall. The Mt Vernon tour was about 4 - 4 1/2 hours long. They give you plenty of time to get off the bus at designated places to see. The cost was very good!!

The staff was amazing they know their history and made our tour more enjoyable!!

Highly recommend DC Trails tours!!

I was recently impressed in this all day grand tour from DC Trails. The history of the city and stories behind everything was amazing. Our driver Darnell kept us from getting bored and we enjoyed the day. I espically enjoyed not driving, One member of our party got lost and he patiently talked her back to the bus and even though she made us 20 minutes late he never complained, The bus picked us up in front of our condo and took us back to where he picked us up. Well worth the $63.

I am a native Washingtonian and feel like I'm in a perfect position to give this review.

I have taken two sight seeing tours: this one ("Double Decker") and the "Open Top Sightseeing." THERE IS A DIFFERENCE!

My advice - go with Open Top Sightseeing.

In both instances, I was entertaining out of town family and knew that this was a great way to see all of the highlights of the city. We opted to take the Twilight tour with Double Decker. There was mass confusion with boarding the buses at Union Station. The gentleman who was organizing us (i.e. giving us the okay to board) was totally unprofessional, gave conflicting information and instructions, and was just not a great way to start the tour.
As the tour started, the recorded voice (yep, not a live person; note that this is the same with Open Top Sightseeing) and our actual location were not in sync. At one point the voice indicated that we should have been in the perfect place for a photo opportunity but instead, the driver continued to drive and the moment was lost.
As the tour continued, we idled for quite some time on Independence Ave while the driver of our bus had some lengthy conversation with the driver of another Double Decker bus. Some people began complaining about the fumes from the bus which were overpowering. At one point, our driver stopped and made a point to tell us that he was doing us a favor by giving us 7 minutes to walk to an area where we could clearly see the front of the White House to take pictures. He emphasized that he would leave us if we took too long. Whatever! I should add, that at this point, some people did exit the bus and refused to return as they thought the tour was just a waste.
We drove by the SIDE of the Lincoln Memorial. The SIDE! The point of the memorial is to see President Lincoln sitting in his enormity; we saw the side of the building. I asked the driver about that and he pointed out that no vehicles could drive past the front of memorial but how about making that known during the tour or even before people purchase their ticket for the tour?!

I strongly encourage visitors to save their money and either take the day tour using Open Top Sightseeing or rent a bike to check out the sites in the city.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE DC and am so sorry that the operators of this tour - Double Decker - do not appear to have the same passion or appreciation for all that DC has to offer.
