“Basic upscale grocer”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 13, 2012

Based on such high reviewsa was expecting a fabulous grocer however Dean & deluca is a fairly small grocer with some unique items with an italian flare. Not as good or large as Fox and Obel in Chicago. You can probably find similar items at Whole Foods. Or even check out produce and prepared foods at the Eastern Market which would probably be better and less expensive.

“Got to go when you can”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 8, 2012

Just a fun place and makes you feel good to be there. Only "problem" is that you want to buy tooooo much. But you have to eat a candy or two. Went to the one in Georgetown so just enhanced our afternoon there.

“Not worth the price.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 8, 2012

When Dean & Deluca was the only game in town for specialty grocery it was fine. But now with Whole Foods not far, it is so not worth the money. They don't carry things I can't get elsewhere. Also, the takeout food is average and overpriced. Why buy a Caesar salad in a plastic container for almost $13 when you can go two doors up to Pizzaria Paradiso and get one of the best pizzas in town for $12!

D&D has just what you needed but didn't know you did. You just *have* to stop by and experience the place, the food, the inspiring ingredients.

“Quality for a sky-high price”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 6, 2012

Dean and De Luca provides a quality product line (within its Georgetown Shop). However, most items are accompanied by price tags that are absolutely stratospheric. There are less expensive shops with equally attractive offerings on wines, cheeses, smoked fish, salmon and pates in other Washington DC neighborhoods. Tourists probably equate the prices with the Georgetown "experience".
