“See the life of an Heiress”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 22, 2013

If you ever wanted to see the best money and taste could buy you should see Hillwood, the fab home of Post Cereal Heiress Marjorie Meriwether Post. WoW. It is a 1950's time warp but with Mad Men you will appreciate it. I want her live.

“A must visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 19, 2013

Although remote and difficult to access via public transportation, this beautiful house is one of the must-visits in DC. Even if you are not interested in the history of American collecting and in Russian Imperial art and history, the grounds and gardens themselves are stunning. If you have any interest in Russia and the Russian cultural heritage, or in the decorative arts and in material culture, it is an essential place to experience.

“Elegant and enchanting”

Intimate view of Russian iconography, lavish royal jewels, jeweled eggs, and nonpareil religious vestments and chalice. Beautiful gardens.

“Hidden Treasure”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 18, 2013

A hidden treasure in DC! Marjorie Merriweather Post had an incredible collection of Russian and French art and artifacts that are worth seeing.

You also want to walk through the beautiful gardens and the orchid hot house. If you have time you can have lunch at the cafe.

Come early so you can get parking and go on-line to set up a tour of the house and gardens.
