That sums up the exhibits. Excellent rainy day if you are to be inside the museum. Not good for handicap. Need a good sunny day for the grounds. The restaurant is a bit on pricey side but convenient.

“Best Private Museum in Washington”
Reviewed February 3, 2012

Marjorie Merriweather Post did eveyone a great favor by turning her home and collection into a museum. If you are able to see one private museum and grounds whilst in DC....see Hillwood!!

The interior of the mansion is nice, but the gardens are what is noteworthy about the estate..

Hillwood Museum is great! It's one of my favorite places to bring folks visiting DC. An amazing house with even more fabulous gardens! A look into history that is just fascinating.

“How the other 1% lived”
Reviewed January 15, 2012

A beautiful mansion, in a verdant and peaceful section of the District, an incredible collection of goodies from all over the world, and family pictures of Marjorie Merriwether Post's children. Lovely grounds and a very nice luncheon cafe.
