“Great Food”
Reviewed September 21, 2013

The day of the dead ambiance was interesting. The restaurant was a little too dark for my liking..literally. More lights would be nice. The service was exceptional. The server who took care of us was very suggestive with the menu and very attentive. The food was tapas style. There were three of us so we each order three plates which was more than enough. The food was excellent. Very creative and delicious. Very recommendable.

“Stunned at first...”
Reviewed September 8, 2013

Went here because it was reportedly the best Mexican restaurant in town. And, well, yes, the food was pretty awesome at times.
We were told to get 4 "tapas" dishes, which would be plentiful. The suckling pig, tuna taquito and empanada was great, so tender and tasty! The Crispy Mahi Mahi was seriously overdone and ruined the experience of the other dishes. With the enthusiastic push of the waiter we got some habanero-infused margarita (Casa en Fuego). It was an amazing drink, absolutely stunning. Well-composed and just spicy enough to get you going...! But. And a big one at that. The drink completely over-powered the flavor of the food and in a way ruined the experience. As a drink, go for it! With food: get something else!

“Best Mexican in DC?”
Reviewed September 7, 2013 via mobile

I've been to Bandalero four or five times now and just getting around to reviewing. The tapas style Mexican is fun and they have some awesome choices on the menu. Any of the tacos will leave you happy, very different from standard fare and worth trying one and all. Other items are solid but I highly suggest trying the plantains, perhaps the best rendition on this fruit I have tried.

Bandolero is an awesome addition to the DC dining scene, you should defintely try this place whether you are local or visiting for a spell. Oyamel is now number 2 in my book.

“Excellent food in Georgetown”
Reviewed September 3, 2013 via mobile

Fun experience, very helpful waitress, and excellent food. We were there at happy hour so the bar was a little noisier than we would have liked, but hey- it's Georgetown.
