“Great Museum!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 2, 2014

Visited this museum in 2/2014. As a fan of spy movies and such, this was right up my alley. This museum features exhibits on both real spy history and how spies are depicted in the movies. They also have many props used in movies, including costumes and cars. I would definitely want to come back here. There is so much to see and read, you could easily come back a few times. Something interesting I was told, Tony Mendez (the REAL spy featured in the movie Argo) is a member of the board of directors for this museum. You see alot of that reflected in some of the exhibits about his famous mission, including interviews with his wife (who was also a spy). Would definitely recommend to all!!

TIP- if you have a metro card, show it to them to get $7 off your visit!

“Spying without electronics (almost)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 27, 2014

As an avid fan of Spy vs Spy in Mad Magazine in the 60s I jumped on the opportunity to visit the International Spy Museum when coming to Washington D.C. in 2005. It was instantly among of my favourites. Eight years later time to revisit the museum to see if it held up. And it did with flying colors.
The top floors with the undercover exercise is still there as all the displays of gadgets you wouldn´t know (at least the younger generation wouldn´t) exist. Read, look, compare and discuss. This is a place you have to have someone along as to share is half the fun. In the lower floors there was, at my visit, a great exhibit on James Bond. All 23 films over the 50 years (and now I understand there is a display of the villans).
This a museum you can´t take in strides. It takes some time and you should be prepared to spend 2 - 3 hours before you end up in the Museum Shop.
A before you go check the web-site for additional experiences.

Hello Old School Spy,

Spy -vs- Spy!!! I am a "Get Smart" man myself of course the junior Spies won't know what we are talking about. What is so cool about the International Spy Museum is that not only do we want to educate guests about real life Spies, their experiences, history of espionage and Spy materials that was used in actual missions but also how pop culture espionage sometimes mirror the real life Spy world. One of my favorite exhibits in the museum is the" My Bond Moment" exhibit. In this exhibit there is video of real Spies telling about experiences they have had while on missions and how in that moment it was like being in a James Bound movie! Thank you for Spying with us and for your feedback.

“Fantastic Place and Enjoyable”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 27, 2014

this place is super! it has a lot of interactive information and exhibits. There is a lot of real world spy history with videos and interactive areas. The James Bond experience is great! I am a Bond fan and it was so nice I could see all the info from the movies, videos, etc. I did not have all the time to see it. If you love the spy history or the James Bond movies, you will need like 2 or 3 hours . Would definitely go again!

Hello

Thank you for Spying with us and your super debriefing about your International Spy Museum mission! We recommend 2 hours to view the museum but guests often spend more than the recommended time viewing the museum. We have over 250 spy artifacts and video and audio of real life Spies telling of their experiences from actual missions. Thank you again for your feedback and Spying with us!!!

“Best Pay Museum in DC”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 27, 2014

We like to travel to DC around Christmas time since the area seems to be less crowded during this time of year. We have made it to most of the "free" museums and art galleries, but decided we would check out the International Spy Museum since we had heard great things about it.

We were not disappointed! The museum was great and the optional spy training couldn't be beat!

If you choose to pay for one museum in DC, it has to be the International Spy Museum!!!

“Breath of fresh air & fun to break-up the heavy feelings DC can bring”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 25, 2014

The Spy Museum is a wonderful place for all ages. On a trip to DC last year, we stopped in on a whim and were pleasantly surprised. From picking a new undercover name when you enter to learning of all the great (and not so great) spies and their gadgets...it was a ton of fun, even for a group of us 30 year olds. The museum really peaked my interest in spies in general and have now read many books.
