“Lovely hotel with...”

...small (but handsome) rooms, and lovely public spaces. I wish the room lighting was better; otherwise, I have absolutely no complaints. The National Portrait Gallery, right across the street, is my favorite Washington museum.

Elton John performed on 14 Nov at Verizon Center in DC. As a birthday present for my favorite female we got tickets to the Elton John concert and stayed at the Monaco across the street. There are several hotel options in the area but the Monaco offered what look like the best opportunity for a 5-star hotel experience and that it was !!

When the folks at the front desk learned that we were attended the concert we found a 4x6 glossy of Elton John in a card signed by the hotel staff, Elton John sunglasses and two cans of diet coke and two glasses of 2% milk (a requirement by Elton John wherever he stays)

There literally is NOTHING the staff could have done any better than what they did.

A fabulous experience !!!!

Room Tip: Corner suites are well worth the money !

Loved this earth friendly boutique hotel. Location was perfect for our quick weekend in DC. Tore up the Mall on the bikes that come with our room. Kudos for yoga mats and recycling. Loved the long hallways and classic feel that comes from renovating and old building. We are now Klimpton fans

My company hosted an event here and I stayed one night. The location is perfect, could not get much better. Right next to Spy Museum. Hotel room was small and I was put on a basement level. The bathroom was wheel chair accessible but the major problem was since there was no bathtub, ALL the water comes out of the shower while your in it. Floor was totally soaked and I had to mop it up with the one extra towel I had. Our event was held on the 4th floor. Buffet lunch was very good, could not complain and the waitstaff were very attentive. All in all it was fine, but probably would not go back.

All in all it was fine is a little less than we are hoping for LRapkin, next time we'll have to get you into one of our fabulous Monte Carlo rooms, more value - in space and luxury - for a small value in price. Please call us if you're headed back soon.

You have a myriad of fine choices when choosing a place to stay in DC. The Hotel Monaco is my first choice, however. The rooms are unique and extraordinarily comfortable. The staff is polite, ready and willing to do whatever necessary to make your stay more comfortable. The location is steps away from a World of entertaining things to do. The price reflects a first rate experience at a comfortable cost. In a sea of mediocrity, Hotel Monaco stands out as a unique lighthouse. Stay there. You won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: Ask for the rooms with vaulted ceilings

Excellent. Elegant excellence. Adjacent to the Metro. 15 minute stroll from the White House. Steps away from scores of great dining establishments.

Superb front desk staff, great restaurant called POSTE, fun atmosphere. Close to everything in the heart of DC. And the building itself is AWESOME. Our weekend experience was worry-free, priced right, and very, very comfortable.

Room Tip: The front desk/reservations staff are amazing. Just let them know your concerns, there are more than...

I stayed at the Monaco for one night on a business trip. The hotel is well located but the service was below par for a reasonably expensive "boutique" hotel. The following were the major difficulties: (1) checked in and given a room in the basement with no window (although they obliged with a room with a window when asked); (2) saw it was possible to get a coffee maker and called to ask for one, which did not arrive until 40 minutes later (after several calls to check and offers to go get it from housekeeping); (3) ordered room service breakfast and the order was not quite right (although not a big deal--bacon instead of ham and "regular" eggs instead of egg beaters); (4) left Kindle in the room when I left and no-one contacted me and I had to call three times (leaving messages) until they told me they had it; (5) asked to pay for shipping of the Kindle to Boston (which is OK but I had something like this happen at another hotel and they very nicely sent it to me without charging), at which point I realized they had gotten the address wrong (which I then corrected).
In addition to the service "issues," the rooms are quite small (although ceilings are high).
All in all, does not seem worth the added expense of a "boutique" hotel.

Room Tip: Avoid the "first" floor, which is the windowless basement.
