“Super comfortable stay”
Reviewed September 17, 2013

We stayed for 2 nights over a weekend in September in a City View King Room. We had a room on the 8th floor facing the street (not particularly high) and there was no street noise at all at night - a very peaceful sleep. The bed is unbelievably comfortable. The room was a nice size with separate bath and walk in shower in the bathroom. The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. They leave Evian water bottles for you at night (free) and put relaxing music on for you to return to your room, which is especially nice if you've been out all day. It is a five minute walk to the Whitehouse from the hotel. If you want a restaurant scene you can walk to DuPont Circle in about 15 minutes or there are cafes along F Street, which are probably again a 10 minute walk away. We ate breakfast at the Ici Bistro downstairs here and yes it was pricey, but outstanding. The berry pancakes are to die for. It is easy to get a taxi from right outside the hotel to wherever you want to go at anytime. A weekend wasn't enough time here. We are definitely staying at the Sofitel when we come back to Washington DC.

It is a long trip from Australia, but I hope you will be able to come back soon and join us for a longer stay. I am happy you enjoyed the city so much, it seems you found some great "local" spots along with the tourist sites. We will be happy to help you plan your visit with delcious restaurant and cafe recommendations to add to your list!

Anna

While visiting our son in DC we decided to try a new hotel. Having experience the finer hotels in the District, it was time to explore. This was truly a five star experience at a three star price. The public areas of the hotel are well maintained and 'old school' comfortable. The hallways and rooms were quiet and elegant. Unlike many hotels in the European tradition, the room we had was scaled to American size and taste. The modest sized exercise room was perfect with new, clean machines and fresh towels and apples to reward your workout.
From the valet to the doorman to the front desk clerk the staff was superior and friendly without being cloying and the sincere bon jours and au revoirs were not misplaced. If the Hay Adams is full, give this hitel actry.

Stayed for three nights, upgraded to a junior suite, large rooms, excellent bathroom with stand alone shower and bath tub. Room looked into courtyard and close to other rooms but no issues with privacy due to thick curtains and good quality voils in the windows, no issues with noise from the construction accross the courtyard. Staff very helpful, friendly and professional. There are much cheaper places to eat breakfast nearby rather than the hotel restaurant as whilst is is very nice food it is rather expensive!

Thank you for your feedback and for choosing Sofitel. Our junior suites are a great way to enjoy a comfortable rest along with a space large enough to get work done and relax in the separate living room. They offer a sofa bed as well should you travel with children or another person, and there is a sliding door for privacy as well. See you again soon!

Anna

Sofitels are my favourite chain. I normally stay in this chain of hotels in Europe but the few I've stayed in in the US have been brilliant. This is no exception. The welcome from the guys on meet & greet, to reception, were of a very high standard.
The room was well furnished, was perhaps in need of a fridge, but otherwise great.
This hotel's top selling point is being 2 blocks from the White House and literally a few minutes walk.
Washington is a wonderful city to walk around and despite having visited before you always see something new.
Top notch.
