I stayed recently for a business trip and was seriously impressed. Little touches like a personal note propped up beside the complimentary trio of deserts and bottled water to welcome you when you arrive, and a note under the door to remind guests that the clocks were going back really made the experience of staying there a delight for me. The staff were uniformly professional, helpful, and courteous - I was particularly impressed that they all made an effort to remember my name from the reception staff to the bar and doormen. A brief hold up when I arrived saw me settled in the hotel bar, complimentary drink in hand, while it was dealt with. Quite honestly it ranks as one of the nicest places I've stayed in terms of how fantastic the quality of service was.

My room was small but perfectly proportioned. Bedding was of very good quality, the bathroom was fabulous and I was very pleased to see a Bose sound system in the room. Complimentary bottled water is offered by a knock on the door in the evening and the food that arrived when I ordered room service was very, very good. It is pricey, but absolutely worth it.

I wouldn't hesitate to go back and shall look forward to doing so next time I'm there!

Just one block from the White House the Sofitel Hotel is a boutique hotel with very friendly staff beginning with the doormen, front desk, and room service staff. Free computer services are available in the lobby area but there is a charge for room computer access. Parking is expensive but no worst than other hotels in the area. Plenty of eating establishments within two blocks. What a shocker when room service arrived at our door at 10:30 pm with four warm chocolate cookies and a glass of milk which we had not ordered. If you need directions anywhere Ray at the front door is the "go to" guy--tell him you are a Redskins fan and you will be a standout for your entire stay. Free coffee is available in the morning in the lobby where the restaurant is located. Definitely a hotel for adult travelers--not a lot for kids to do.

Room Tip: Ask for an upper corner room with a view. Some sides of the hotel face a wall a few feet away from the window.

My room was ready upon arrival. The room was small, but nicely appointed. Very close to the White House. The Bose music system was a nice touch in the room. The bar in the lobby was very nice, too. Breakfast in the hotel restaurant was nice, but on the expensive side.

I love this hotel. Set in a low rise building in what I think of as fin de siecle architecture, it is in a good location, and offers great service, and most of all, rooms that are nicely appointed and very very comfortable.
Breakfast offers a range of interesting options and I particularly love the outdoor seating area adjacent to the dining room where from breakfast to late evening one can sit outdoors and enjoy the vibe.

Room Tip: The junior suites are just lovely and if you are having an extended stay in DC should yourself the upgrade as the extra space of the lounge area is very welcome.
