“Fun for Lunch”
Reviewed April 26, 2013

A basic, but characterful, diner. Busy but not crowded the day we went (a Saturday lunchtime). Order at the counter, pay, find a table and wait for your order to be called. All food fresh and the burgers "home grown". Shakes to die for (I had blueberry-pomegranate - it was delicious!). Burgers start from $6, extra toppings $1, french fries $3, shakes $5. Well worth a visit.

“A+ Burgers and Service”
Reviewed April 22, 2013

This is a diner without the waitresses. Order when you walk in, find a table, and wait for your order to be called up. Bar seats are for beer drinking patrons usually, but my sister and I were told to sit there even though we weren't drinking. We decided to share the $6 house burger since we weren't super hungry. We also shared an order of fries. Even though we didn't ask for the burger to be split, the bartender had it split for us at no extra charge. It was a great burger! My half of the burger plus the half order of fries was plenty of food for us. On the way out, we decided we needed to get a milkshake to go. Once again, the bartender heard us talking about sharing and split the shake into two separate "to go" cups for us without us even asking! Great service, nice casual diner feel, excellent food, and reasonable prices. If I were a local, I think I'd be a regular at BTS!

“Cold beer, tasty burgers, special shakes a winning formula”
Reviewed April 16, 2013

We almost bypassed BTS while looking for someplace to grab a bite before our scheduled City Segway tour. The stark orange-and-white color scheme, unattractively barricaded outdoor area and deserted atmosphere were turn-offs But we were very thirsty on a hot DC afternoon during cherry-blossom season and the bar looked inviting with its cloth napkins, woven placemats and jovial bartender. We took a chance. The timing was good because shortly thereafter (around 5:30 p.m.) the place filled up, with all tables taken and a takeout line forming to the door. Choose from traditional burgers including a basic build-your-own Angus starting at $6 or experiment with some burgers of a different kind. I chose the Pilgrim, a turkey burger dressed with fresh greens and gourmet cheese -- got the delicious chipotle dressing on the side. Sister Chris pronounced the veggie option delightful and was happy to add mushrooms for $1.The tuna burger also looked tempting. Brother Bill went with the traditional beef and we all split an order of homemade onion rings and in-house French Fries. There are sweet potato fries, too, but they don't make those on the premises. We each tossed back a tap beer, total bill for drinks, sides and three large burgers was $50.60. If we'd had longer I'd have gone for a plain shake or a "shaketail" with a little something-something in it. Since I had to balance on a Segway, that'll have to wait for next time.

“Good Food, Good Drinks”
Reviewed April 15, 2013

This is a nice place, that is a step up from fast food. You place your order and they call your number. The burgers are good, but not outstanding. Quick service. Great list of beers on tap. The shaketails were really good (milk shake with booze) and fun flavors! I recommend a shake.

“Convenient and Good Value”
Reviewed April 13, 2013

The palce is not very good, but it is not average. It is kind of in the middle of the two. That being said, we went there twice on our GWU visit. The first time on Sunday was to keep my daughter on the reservation, who wanted a burger and shake. The burgers were good, thick and a good value. The shakes were thick, but compared to Steak and Shake, not a good value. The fries were average. The place is too small for the weekend lunch crowd. The second time, we went because we needed a quick meal. The lines were not as long, and the food was the same. MY wife ahd the apache sweat lodge, and it was not spicy. You order and they call your number. On both visits, our order was wrong, but quickly corrected. OK if you want a quick burger and fries. Beer list looks good, but did not try. Good location on Washington circle.
