If you are looking for a cheap downtown location, The Baron hotel is the place for you. You shouldn't care too much about music or live bands though, as there is a bar in the same building! Our room was clean and the beds comfortable. Don't take the breakfast because it is not worth its 5$ .. there are a lot of nice places around the corner where you can get much better breakfast or brunch!

Room Tip: Don't stay there if you are sensitive to noises or choose a room higher than the second floor.

The initial impression you get is that you have stumbled upon a down-at-heel European hostel hotel. Don't get me wrong - the location is great for the subway, eating and there is an excellent bar in the basement with a huge range of craft beers to try - but there is no separate entrance to the lobby and the decor is tired, giving it a less than professional finish. The rooms are soundproofed by additional lobby doors from the bar/entertaining area but the sound of external air conditioning units are audible through the windows (which seems to be common in US hotels). I wouldn't want to stay on the first floor when there is music playing. The rooms are also in need of a make-over - perfectly clean bathrooms; clean beds and linen - it's just that there where odd splashes of different colored paint where patches had been repaired. I didn't try the breakfast as there are a few places to eat near to the circle.

Room Tip: Try and get a room on the second floor or above.

We pre paid this booking through Hotels.com. otherwise we would have left before checking in. It's very dingy, dark and basic. In need of a complete refurbishment. No facilities at all, not even a lift. The double rooms were tiny and very shabby. However, the bed linen was clean as was the bathroom and it was an easy walk from Dupont Circle.

We actually have no much time to stay here, that is why we didnot see anything bad from this hotel. Just something was not available as breakfast and bellman. We should leave heavy luggage downstairs instead bring all up because there is not elevator in this hotel. There is coffee amenities in lobby, it is nice for early arrival. Their location is brilliant, we could walk to city bus station around 05 mins and to train station in 10 mins. It is good stop for short time, not for long stay.

let me start by saying, that for under $75 per night, this was a DC bargain, and is located two blocks from the Q street exit of the DuPont circle metrorail. secondly, it has a large restaurant and bar, on the main floors, that appears to be an active fun place. the entire building is smokefree. it is a very old building, and except for the newer bathrooms, it is dated. I asked for a room on the highest floor[4th], to make sure I had quiet, which I did. the room was fine for the price, it was clean, except for that sometime over the years someone had stepped in some black paint and walked across the white carpet. the continental breakfast is so so, but handy and starts early. take your printed receipt with you, if breakfast is included in your rate, as they kept wanting to charge me $5 for it. the desk help are not the most helpful, but review after review states that, so go in with that in mind and don't make it worst. I would stay again at that rate and would recommend it to certain of my friends. if I have a good rate on a hotel and it is clean, I can live with most other things[they do have new flat screen tvs, with lots of channels.] the computer for guest use, is handily located on the second floor landing, but it would not accept numbers, so I could not put in my password, to check my email. I asked several times for someone to correct it, to no avail.

Room Tip: if you aren't in the bar crowd, you might ask for and upper floor, for quiet. don't think the elevator worked, anyway I never used it.
