Dr. King's legacy of driving for equality, and how he was able to do it, is something admirable. Thats the reason stopping at this memorial was a great thing for us....we really enjoyed it.

Saw this one at night initially and was very impressed. The inscriptions on the walls were very inspiring.

The concept of MLK Jr. breaking free of the Mountain of Despair works but honestly: pink granite carved by a man from China. Where are Julian Bond, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Harry Befefonte and the other uber-race guys when you need them? MLK Jr. is depicted as a bit brooding and one has to wonder who approved the crossed arms. The offensive out-of-context quote has been removed and not replaced. Maybe the fellow from China can't figure out what to put there.... how about "I have a dream"

This is a great trip for everyone. Very Educational for young ones. He deserves this tribute I wished he were able to see this before he have deceased. He is was very strong powerful spirtiual man. He stands for all of the rights. Every time I listen to his speech chills goes all over me. If you ever go to Washington DC please take a moment and go over to MLK Memorial.

The memorial is very moving. It's massive structure is a tribute to the man himself and all that he accomplished. MLK was a force that got this country moving in the right direction. The symbolism of the monument itself almost seemed dwarfed by the wall behind it with many quotes from MLK's speeches throughout his life. The one I feel is really stuck home with me is: "The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy."
