“Impressive !”

I stayed at the Hilton in Crystal City near Reagan National Airport. . I had some time so I decided to visit the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Site.
I took the Metro to The National Mall. Cost is $1.85 one way. I came up at the Smithsonian Station. It takes about 15 - 20 minutes on the metro train. It is about 15 or more minutes to walk to the site. It is not near the National Mall. If you drive I did notice parking lots in the area.
The site is along the Tidal Basin looking out towards the Jefferson Memorial across the Basin.. I walked along the Kutz Bridge( following the crowd ). The walk is pleasant looking out over the Tidal Basin with paddle boats and trees. The statue is of MLK coming out of stone, very tall. There are two pillars behind the statue or rather to the right of it. There are famous quotes along a long wall behind the statue, as well as two famous quotes on each side of the MLK statue…The “ I am a drum major is on one of the sides of the MLK statue. The statue does have a slight Asian look to me, but since it was craved in China by a famous artist, what can you say.... There is a small book store which is dedicated to MLK with his books, writings, post cards, and other small sovereigns. There are no T-shirts to purchase at this time, some may be added at a later date. I noticed there were many tour buses and families visiting the site as well as all nationalities and ages.. It is worth a visit!

My family and I visited Washington, D.C and came across the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial. It was so inspirational. The pure size of the monument along with Dr. King's quotes left such a positive impression on my entire family. Well worth the trip to see!!!
