I went to the gibson on a date on a Friday night. It was really cool and the atmosphere was great.
The only downer was the fact that there is a 2 hour time limit at the table. Overall I will go back and the drinks are great.

Very low key, small, lounge/bar. Low-lit, with a soft ambience and only the bar, tables and chairs. There is a small outside patio in the rear with nothing more than some tables and chairs surrounded by a fence and buildings.

Drinks are amazing with some of the freshest and most unique ingredients I have ever come across. Yes the drinks can be slightly pricey (around $10 or more per cocktail), but you are getting your money's worth and this isnt the type of atmosphere you would go to just to get drunk.

A great date night place, or mingling with some friends after a good meal. Reservations are a must.

The Gibson is an old speakeasy and it's treated as such. You need to make reservations(do this in advance, we had to make reservations on a Tuesday to get in there on a Saturday), there is no standing around the bar, tables only, no sign outside and you have to knock to get in. The drinks are serious and made to order. Honestly the mixology is some of the best I've found... The waiters were awesome and will even custom create drinks for you if you tell them what your into. Atmosphere was great and they even burned some chestnut wood in a ashtray to perfume the place. I would come back here any time I'm in dc.

This hard to find spot is pretty cool. Very funky drinks and nice atmosphere. If want to go make sure you get reservations or else you won't get thru the black door!
