“Good value in an expensive city”
Reviewed November 6, 2011

I booked two nights at this hotel for the first week of November through the Washington Convention & Visitors Bureau website. The rate was around $221/night, not including tax. I had a two-room suite, with almost-full kitchen (no stove, only a two-burner cooktop, but I wasn't there to cook!). There was a coffeemaker with coffee provided, but take some creamers from the breakfast bar unless you like the powdered stuff - I found it just as easy to get dressed and go downstairs to get coffee. Very spacious and comfortable accommodations. The room was clean and had TVs in both the bedroom and the kitchen/dining/living room. Price included free full breakfast (scrambled eggs, sausage or Canadian bacon, waffles, oatmeal, cereal, yogurt, breads and bagels, fruit) and free wi-fi. It was also Marriott Customer Appreciation Week, so a free dinner was provided on the night I checked in - some kind of mystery meat that turned out to be a quite edible meat loaf, mashed potatoes, salad, veggie platter, cheese and chips, cake. Bonus - saved me at least $20 "on the town." The hotel is not convenient for business trips to Capitol Hill - a taxi ride is about $15 with tip via Rock Creek Parkway. Staff was very friendly - the desk clerk must have told me at least 3 times at check-in to call the front desk if I needed anything. P St. tends to be a bit noisy, so if you want quiet, ask for a room at the back of the building. Taxis line up at the Palomar Hotel across the street so there's never a problem getting a cab. There is a restaurant in the same building that has a bar and a pretty good-looking menu, though I didn't get a chance to try it. No business center per se, but two computers in the breakfast room.

Room Tip: If you want quiet, ask for a room at the back of the building.

After researching various Dupont Circle hotels, we chose this one based on reviews and price. It was a stellar choice. Other than not having early check in as requested and a few internet issues, it was an excellent stay.

The room was clean, bed was comfortable, and furnishings were attractive. It's not really upscale, but it's better than average. Our room was very quiet.

The area appeared safe, the hotel is a quick walk from the Dupont Circle Metro, and we found good restaurants very close. On a rainy evening when we were tired, we zipped next door to Vento and had a wonderful meal.

Two things make this hotel a sure bet for our next trip to DC. First is the staff. Great job ladies and gentlemen! Manuel was outstanding. We asked many transportation questions, and he was patient, knowledgeable and even printed out detailed bus routes for us to take with us. He hailed a taxi for us and was cheerful and a real asset to the hotel. Tara was another lovely person who was very helpful. Even the breakfast bar guys were far above average in keeping the food hot and supplied and offering cheery service.

Second, the quality and variety of the breakfast was far above the typical "free" hotel breakfast. It was greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't hesitate to return to this hotel.

Room Tip: Our quiet room didn't face P street but overlooked a parking lot. I don't know how quiet th...

Dear Ashley 341,

Thank you for choosing the Residence Inn Dupont Circle for your stay and for taking the time to write a review about your experience.
We are glad to hear that you have enjoyed your stay and that our staff was able to answer all of your questions. We are proud of our staff and work hard to meet all of our guests' expectations.
You commented on our hot breakfast, which is just one of the many complimentary amenities that make Residence Inns a great value for leisure and business travelers.
I apologize for the minor issues with the Internet and for not being able to offer you an early check in. We typically honor early check in requests as long as the room type you have reserved is available at the time of check in. We must have been sold out the night before or were out of the room type you had reserved. In regards to the Internet, please do not hesitate to contact our front desk so we can contact our internet provider to ensure the problem is resolved immediately.
Again, thank you for choosing the Residence Inn Dupont Circle. We are looking forward to seeing you again in the near future.

Sincerely,

This is a great location to stay in D.C. While there are more upscale properties, most people would be happy with this property. The staff and service were stellar and the general manager is on top of her game.

The only complaint was the computer in the dining area. The keyboard was very sticky and I had to clean it thoroughly before using. The beds were superb and the mattress was firm which I like.

This hotel has very caring employees, including Tera, who made sure that our one-night stay was spectacular. We would stay here again in the future.

Room Tip: Rooms on the back (south) side are quieter than the north facing rooms due to the north rooms facing...

This hotel is located in the hip Dupont Circle neighborhood. There are restaurants galore within an easy walking distance. The neighborhood feels safe walking around after dark. The metro entrance (red line) is 2 blocks away.

The free breakfast was excellent: eggs, waffles, sausage, fresh fruit, yogurt, bagels, mufffins, etc. etc. I noticed an employee monitored the breakfast room continuously, refilling and tidying as necessary.

Since we travel with multiple wifi devices, the free wifi was a must.

The staff were friendly and helpful.

The room was tastefully decorated. With all the great restaurants nearby and free breakfast in the lobby, I wonder whether the included kitchen ever gets used.

Parking (including tax) was $28 a day.

I would stay here again when I come to Washington, and recommned it to others.

It's on "restaurant row", taxis opposite the hotel early in the morning, easy to get to Nationa Airport.
And my wife and daughter have difficulty sleeping ... the both slept very well and were very complimentary about the beds and pillows.
