“Wonderful Customer Service!”
Reviewed June 17, 2013

Everyone in the hotel was so friendly and helpful to our family of 5. Seck, at the front desk went above and beyond for us. He always had a smile on his face and was ready to help with anything we needed. Our room was VERY spacious and comfortable, especially for 2 adults and 3 kids. We definitely made the right choice in hotels and will stay there again when we come back and visit.

Greetings Elizabeth286,

It is wonderful to hear that your time with us at the Avenue Suites was so memorable. You are 100% correct that Mr. Seck is the friendliest guy in town and always has the biggest smile on his face. I have passed your comments onto him and he has not stopped talking about it since! We look forward to your next visit with us here at the Avenue Suites.

Best wishes,
Mitchell Turow

Avenue Suites is just outside Georgetown and within 5 mins walk of the Main Street. It's a nice, modern all-suites hotel and the staff were all super friendly and helpful. The rooms have a separate living area and kitchen which is great when you're staying for a few days. There is also a little bar and an outside seating area. Every day they have "mojito hour" in reception. The fitness room is a little deceptive from the photos as there's actually a mirror in it, and it's half the size you think! But the equipment is new and all worked. Overall we thought this was a great hotel and we'd definitely stay here again if back in DC.

In many previous business visits, I found that the DC area hotels can be very mediocre and expensive at the same time. However, this hotel is excellent. The rooms are spacious and clean - an excellent value compared to most hotels in DC. The service at the hotel is very good and the staff are extremely friendly. Additionally, the location is excellent. It is an easy walk to restaurants in Georgetown while also being only a few blocks from the Foggy Bottom/GWU metro station. My wife and I were very pleased with our stay and would certainly stay there again if we visit DC again.

Room Tip: This is a downtown hotel, so street noise could be an issue for some people (it was not for us). I...

Good evening DBW1962,

It is so wonderful to hear that word of the Avenue Suites Georgetown has reached all the way to Kansas! I must agree that our incredibly friendly staff is our best asset and we love sharing great reviews like yours with them. You are correct that street noise is sometimes issues for guests due to our Pennsylvania Avenue location so I urge all visitors to reach out to me directly prior to arrival so I can block light sleepers into rooms on the opposite side of the building.

Thanks again for your great review,
Mitchell Turow

This was an amazingly priced hotel for what you get: An incredible location within walking distance of Georgetown in one direction and downtown in the other, as well as the Foggy Bottom Metro station a few blocks away; charming staff; comfortable and spacious rooms; and a wide range of eating options. Being able to eat in the room, thanks to a full kitchen and Trader Joe's across the street (as well as Starbucks just a few blocks away and many other small cafe/markets nearby), is a huge plus. I also have not stayed many places where the people at the front desk so unfailingly greet the guests as they come and go, with a warmth that one doesn't always associate with the Nation's Capital. I was happy to see many dogs as guests: You can tell it is a hotel with heart that has an address like 2500 Pennsylvania Avenue and still allows pets! A few more advantages for people who like to walk or run: The towpath along the C & O Canal and the trails in Rock Creek Park are easily accessed from the hotel, and the back streets of Georgetown near Dumbarton Oaks and Montrose Park offer green and peaceful escapes from the noise and traffic of Pennsylvania Avenue and M Street. I found our suite to be extremely comfortable, with ample room to spread out, a large desk that would make an appealing place to write, a huge picture window offering much entertainment value in the drama of the streetscape below and the changing skies above, a wealth of towels in the bathroom, and the coolest shower head I've ever seen. I would also congratulate the hotel for getting the air conditioning right: The temperature was perfectly set to be not too cold, and there was no noise to speak of.

We noticed only a very few absences of things we have come to expect at hotels these days: no bureau anywhere in the suite, no complimentary breakfast, and no easily accessable guest computer. But these were very minor complaints, and we managed fine without them. If you need to check in for a flight and you don't have a computer with you, the staff will guide you through the process using computers at the desk. There is also a Public Library just a couple of blocks away.

Hats off to the management for offering visitors to the District such a pleasant and affordable and unpretentious retreat from the bustle of the city!

My friend and I had a lovely stay at the Avenue Suites at Georgetown. It was convenient to the Metro. The room had a great view, quite spacious, well equipped kitchen, courteous and knowledgeable staff. We got good advice, especially from Mitchell Turow, who greeted us on our arrival. He went over what was available in the area (including the Trader Joe's right across the street--very convenient) and where to go/how to get there in Washington. They also allowed us to check in early and check out late to fit with out travel plans. The fitness center was small but met my needs.

One comment--we went over Memorial Day and the crowds were NOT bad--we did not expect that. We went over Memorial Day because the rates were so much lower.

Room Tip: We had asked for a room close to the fitness center but Mitchell recommended one higher up for the v...

We just spent two nights at Avenue Suites, DC. By way of background, I have had to travel to DC about 40 times and have stayed at many, many, hotels in DC. Avenue Suites is modern, cool, lively, well kept. The staff is extremely friendly. The rooms are very spacious, with a separate kitchen and a living room the size of the sleeping area. TRADER JOE's is 200 feet from the hotel so you can prepare your own meals. Decoration is sober, of excellent taste and with nice photos of actors of yesteryear. Not too expensive. Nice outdoor patio. Great complimentary mojitos. Great location a few hundred yards from the heart of Georgetown. The only criticism is that by being on Pennsylvania it can be noisy if you open the window;unfortunately a couple of ambulances went by sirens blasting while we were there. In a few words, except for the long gone Watergate Hotel, I don't know a better hotel in Washington.

Room Tip: Try to get a room NOT facing Pennsylvania

Jose A,

Thank you for taking the time to write a great review about your recent visit at the Avenue Suites here on TripAdvisor. We are constantly working hard on working towards a goal of service perfection and your comments about our staff remind us that we are headed in the right direction. I agree that sometimes Pennsylvania Avenue can be a tad noisy at times so I urge all guests who prefer quieter rooms to reach out to me directly prior to arrival so I can choose a room on the back side for them.

Thanks again and we look forward to seeing you again soon!
