“Beautiful, clean, comfortable - but rude receptionist”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2009

This was the one hotel in our 10-city road trip that had very few reviews here, so I was a little nervous. But to be honest, this was one of the nicest hotels I've ever been in. The rooms are bright, clean, and comfortable. The bathrooms and mattresses are amazing and much better than your average hotel. Everything is just new and clean. There's free Wi-Fi and the included breakfast was absolutely delicious (try the cinnamon roll).

Why is this not getting full points? Well, we had an issue when checking in - the receptionist didn't find our pre-paid, travel-agency booked reservations. I know this can happen to anyone, but the way she handled it was unnerving at best. Very rude. We offered to call the agency to have them confirm, but I was completely ignored for most of the process.

Still, the rooms and the free hourly shuttle service to Union Station made up for it. I'd definitely return.

DO NOT listen to the BAD reviews. This hotel was GREAT! Clean rooms, comfortable beds, good air conditioning, nice size swimming pool, and small jacuzzi but holds 7 adults easily.
Their is a shuttle that runs its guests to Union Station every hour. This shuttle has a sign up list where you choose the hour you ride which most people do not sign up for then becoming disgruntled when the shuttle is not available on their time schedule. The shuttle drivers are however amazing and very helpful. Great addition to a great hotel.
An unfriendly employee was handled by management the morning after the incident.

Overall this has been a great stay for our family.

Fabulous hotel. Close to everything. Amazing shuttle service that takes you to Union Station. Reasonable, good breakfast and laundry rooms, and the staff is incredible. They even had a barbecue for Priority Club members and David Cook did a wonderful job. Brian helped us quite a bit with our directions and he and David and the rest of the staff were just great. Location is fine. I would stay there again if in D.C.

The hotel itself is fine. The rooms are great, and the staff is first rate. The swimming pool... not so much, and the hot tub is a bit of a joke.

But this area is in one of the worst areas of D.C. A cab driver told me that lots of cabbies won't take people to that area of town, and won't go there for pick-ups. You're nowhere near the Metro, so if you don't have a car, that means you're limited to using the hotel's hourly shuttle to Union Station.

I would recommend the HI on the Mall, or the HIE just across from Georgetown in Rosslyn. It's right by the Metro, and, my cabbie friend told me, the neighborhood is safe 24/7/

We are first time travelers to the Washington DC and wanted to see the sights. I called hotels and B&B's in the down town area and either they were booked or very expensive.
We reserved a room at the Holiday inn Express with 2 queen beds and all the electronic amenities to keep the 12 year old happy. for $145.00 per eve.plus they have a pool and a work out room that we really enjoyed. The hotels has a complimentary shuttle bus that runs every half hour from 9am -11pm to Union station every day. The room was immaculate, the staff friendly and helpful, Breakfast was included ,not bad. It's not in the best neighborhood but all in all we would stay there again and recomend it to our friends.

The hotel was nice. It was clearly a new property, and, the room was very comfortable with all new furniture and such. The location wasn't that great for us. The surrounding neighbourhood wasn't too inviting, but, nothing too bad. For whatever reason, my colleague and I could never find the exit around the hotel. Maybe it's just D.C. highways, but, it was a big source of frustration.

If I were you, I would never stay here. I booked the hotel online and was given my price. They charged me over $300 more than that price, and did it without my understanding. It has been an ongoing dilemma between me, the hotel, and guest relations of the Holiday Inn chain. So far, I am going refunded that money, but my bank account was also overdrawn because of this. They refuse to pay the fees for it. The service at the hotel won't even talk to Guest Relations. They say they never heard of the situation.

It's also in the ghetto part of DC, so just stay somewhere else is my advice.
