“Fantastic hotel @ only 10 mintes from Washington DC”
Reviewed December 17, 2012

It was my First visit to Washington DC and this fantastic hotel in August 2012. I think It's the best choice if you go by car to Washington DC. Because there is a safe and free parking @ the hotel with good acces to the city and the touristic things. There is also a free shuttle bus @ the evening to the and from the city. The hotel reception was clean and not long waiting to checkinn with friendly people working here. The rooms are big and very clean and nicely decorated with a flat screen tv and a big bathroom with enough towels. The price/quality is very good bacause there is also a free breakfast included in the price. And there is also a indoor swimpool. It was a nice stay.

Room Tip: Visit the website from Holiday inn for a good offer

The photo's look great and the property is maintained ok but the staff is beyond RUDE! From everyone we came in contact with at the hotel from the FD clerk to the breakfast host to the shuttle driver they were all rude and displayed a very unprofessional manner. The girl working Saturday morning really did not want to be at work, when we asked about the shuttle she was extremely annoyed she had to get up out of the chair in the back office and come and answer our questions - even my 7 year old daughter commented on her bad attitude. Other guests were waiting to be helped but she ignored the intentional noises being made by them to get her attention. I'm surprised the hotel manager employees such people. The rooms are ok, TV is fuzzy and NBC channel doesn't come on at all, shower curtain slides to the middle of the rod throughout the course of showering which was really frustrating. Carpets could use a wash and the headboards need a good wipe down. The shuttle was handy just have to be careful of the times of service. They should label the items in the market so guests don't bother the front desk when wanting to buy something! Whatever it is they are doing in the back office is way more important than any guest in that hotel!

We stayed here throughout the Thanksgiving holiday Nov.21-26th, 2012. It's a very nice, clean place. The manager Laurie was very welcoming and when they accidently booked us into a room that hadn't been cleaned yet, they gave us a discount on our room and and quite quickly changed us into another very nice room. The food is OK, hot and cold available.Just got a little tired of eating the same thing 5 days in a row, but guess we had a choice to go somewhere else if we wanted, but we chose to eat free there! The shuttle to Union Station is available only until noon and then resumes again at 6:00pm, I wasn't aware of that until we got there. We did use the shuttle but also had to use taxis a fair amount as there is no other public transportation readily available there. We did have to wait quite awhile one nite for the shuttle at Union Station, he apparently took 45 minutes for a 20 minute ride to get there... we did complain about that the next day, the driver wasn't at all apologetic either, in fact he was quite sarcastic in his remarks to us, when he finally got there. Otherwise staff overall was quite friendly and Laurie was very nice. I would definitely stay here again for the price, cleanliness and staff, depending on where we had to go in Washington, D.C.as I had said it's not in the best situation for transportation .purposes

Dear Guest: Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are very pleased to see that you enjoyed your stay, staff treated you well, and the accommodations were too your liking. We'd like to thank you for your additional feedback on the shuttle. The hotel found the need for shuttle service is not in high demand during noon and six pm, so we do limit the times to and from Metro and apologize for any inconvenience that may have caused with the added taxi fare. I'd like to personally apologize to you both for our driver's remarks, that was not professional to receive sarcasm, we will address that directly with him. Thank you again for the review and the feedback. It was our pleasure having you as our guest. We welcome to opportunity to have you stay with us again the next time your travels bring you to the area.

We spent a few days here in October and judging by the amount of flight crews staying there it was quite a popular hotel. The rooms were clean and the staff were helpful, even though it's a bit out of town we used the shuttles to get to the metro which was very handy. Would happily stay again.

Recently, I stayed for 5 nights at the Holiday Inn Express Washington DC-Northeast. It was a good stay--the room was spacious and clean and the morning breakfast buffet has a decent selection of hot and cold items.

I found the hotel staff particularly friendly and helpful. I needed directions and meal recommendations, and helped with both.

This hotel is not right in the middle of town, but does run a regular shuttle service to Union Station. I didn't take advantage of the shuttle, but observed it running on a regular morning and evening schedule.

I particularly appreciated how clean the hotel was. Both my room and the common areas (hallways, lobby, breakfast area, fitness center) were spotless and smelled nice.

I definitely will stay here again if I am in the area for work.

Room Tip: Room at the back of the hotel are quieter.

I stayed at this facility for 3 nights while attending a conference at the US National Arboretum. This is a relatively new facility and it's still shining. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. My room had a king bed and couch with foldaway. The furniture was all in good shape. Bed wonderfully comfortable. Small fridge, which was a bit noisy actually, but not disturbing. Two HDTV's, the reception not the best on several channels, but I only use as a sleeping aid anyway. Continental breakfast was included and was generous enough for "continental". The US National Arboretum is just a stone's throw away, an easy and safe 10 minute walk, if you want to walk. I wouldn't say there was mulch else in the immediate vicinity that I found attractive--hence the title urban semi-desert. But, being that the Inn is located at the corner of New York Ave and Bladensburg, many DC areas of interest are not very far away. And, judging from the construction within sight of the front door, it probably won't be long before there are new "go to" shopping, dining and other social areas very near. The weekday price was only average; a better rate is available, as for most of DC, on weekends. Fifteen bucks was charged per day to park, even out here in the hinterlands. Guess their property taxes are high. Still, bottom line for me, the facility and staff were both very nice, and that goes a long way toward making one's experience pleasant. If you need accommodations in this general section of DC this is a good place to rest.

Dear Guest; Thank you very much for taking the time to write such a great review about your recent stay with us. The Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites is four years young as we opened our doors in May 2008. We appreciate you letting us know what you did enjoy ( the hotel accommodations and amenities) and what you did not enjoy (not a lot to do in immediate walking vicinity). The area around the hotel is continually growing with current economic redevelopement taking place, as a matter of fact, the construction next door is slated to be a national retail chain store which is perfect fit for the location and we are excited for the grand opening coming soon!

I stayed at the holiday inn express 10/19-10/21/2012. When we first arrived there was a mixup, we reserved a double queen bed room....we were given a king bed room. The hotel staff was excellent and went through great lengths to make sure we were given the room we reserved. Javelyn and Tierra really helped us out alot, they found a guest who had a double room but she was alone thankfully the guest agreed to switch rooms with us. Javelyn and Tierra went to the room and personally cleaned it for us .......there efforts should be appluaded!!! I was very pleased with their customer service. I will stay here in the future and the complementary breakfast was also good!
