No atmosphere and greasy food.
service did not know what to do.
menu selection was weak and the food was below average.
At least the drinks were decent.

Todd Gray’s Watershed, in my humble opinion, is one of DC's best restaurants. In fact, I think it may rank as one of the best restaurant meals I’ve ever eaten. Despite being somewhat inconveniently located relative to central DC attractions (and a bit of a splurge), once you take your first bite, the effort to visit Watershed will have been worth the wait. If you're comfortable with DC's metro, you can easily get to the restaurant off the Red Line New York Avenue stop. We enjoyed a multi-course meal of delicious raw oysters, incredible gazpachos, marlin, and trout, accompanied by a variety of creative, very tasty libations. Food wise—everything was perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the portions were adequate and satisfying. The concept of sustainable, regional and seasonal food is refreshing. The staff could use some training and experience, however, and need to get comfortable with the food descriptions and balance being attentive without lurking. Our waiter forgot to mention several of the chef specials, including the gazpacho. Had we not heard another waiter tell another table about it, we would have missed out—and it was an excellent gazpacho. Some of the ingredients were a bit obscure, so staff would do well to learn what they’re presenting before they start explaining the dishes. Overall, the meal was excellent and I look forward to visiting again. I hear they have a great happy hour, too, which I look forward to checking out.
