“A great choice”
Reviewed October 15, 2013

Our family of four stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn for 4 nights recently. We would happily stay here again and thoroughly recommend it to others. The hotel is well located - close to the White House, and with a Metro station across the road. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Our room was large, clean and comfortable, with two TVs and Wifi, and really quiet. The breakfast was excellent. Finally, the hotel has a small pool downstairs - not really long enough for serious laps, but certainly big enough for our boys to enjoy a swim at the end of the day.

In short, the Hilton Garden Inn Downtown is a great place to stay if you're spending a few days in Washington.

Overall, this hotel offered all the amenities and service any tourist could want when visiting Washington. I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights while visiting Washington for the first time and were very satisfied with this accommodation. We were housed on 17th floor of the hotel in a twin double room.

Pros:
1. Location - hotel is located within easy walking distance to the White House and offers easy access to many of Washington's major attractions. Felt safe in this part of the city and had ready access to restaurants, cafes, bars, ATMs etc. Close to a variety of transport options including 3 blocks from the pick up point for the hop on hop off tourist bus.
2. Service - first rate. Check in process was warm and welcoming with hotel facilities clearly explained. Housekeeping was good with rooms very clean at all times. Bar staff, especially Scottie, were extremely friendly and professional.
3. Amenities - offered a wide range of amenities including an onsite coin operated laundry which is always useful for travellers. Swimming pool available but was somewhat small in size and no spa. Hotel also offers fully equipped business centre with PCs and printers and gym.
4. Rooms - spacious and well maintained.
5. Internet - complimentary wifi offered. Variable performance experienced during our stay but proved sufficient for our needs.
6. Dining - hotel offers breakfast and limited dining options for dinner and lunch. There are a number of good restaurants and cafes in the vicinity to choose from though including Starbucks a block away. Recommend Ceiba bar and grill just down 14th street for dinner.

Cons:
1. Noisy - despite being on 17th floor, there was still a lot of street noise noticeable. Suspect this is a feature of Washington generally not necessarily limited to this hotel. Sirens seem to sound out most hours of the day. Air conditioner in the room also proved to be a little noisy.

Room Tip: Request a room on a higher level of the hotel if you are a light sleeper.

This property pulls out all the stops for visitors. Every member of their staff is friendly and attentive. The location can't be beat. And their restaurant is wonderful. This is one of the best Hilton properties I've stayed at and I've stayed at hundreds.

Thank you very much for your kind words and review!

We hope to see you again in the not too distant future. December - January is a great time to visit DC as all of the museums are open and lines are short!

Best regards.

We were very pleased with this choice as it was so close to several of the sights we wanted to see at a reasonable price. It is close to Pret a manger, Cosi, Subway and 2 Starbucks so we didn't include breakfast in our deal and just headed to one of these for breakfast/quick snack. Also had Cold Stone icecream next door and a supermarket a couple of minutes down the road.
Great choice! Service was great too and we chose a room on a higher floor so no outside noise to bother us. Room size was larger than I expected so we fit in quite well with all our large luggage too.
This is going to be my recommendation anytime anyone asks for Washington DC.

We were here on vacation over labor day weekend. We had a one bedroom suite which was very nice. The view on an alley was not appealing and made the room somewhat dark, but we were not in Washington for hotel room views. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Free coffee was available very early in the morning and cold water during the day. They had delicious cookies in the lobby in the evening. Probably the best part was the location. It was less than a mile to the national mall with all the monuments and museums. There were plenty of restaurants in the area and easy access to public transportation just across the street, either, either bus or subway. There is a nice park just around the corner. I would certainly choose the Hilton Garden Inn again on its location and value.

Thank you for your endorsement!

I appreciate your comment regarding the view from your suite. The suites are spacious and have a nice sitting room apart from the sleeping area however they are all located on the back of the building. We are forunate that buildings in DC cannot exceed 14 floors so the rooms don't become too dark.

Thank you again and best regards.

Contacted the hotel with questions prior to arrival and they were very helpful. The service in the hotel was great and the rooms to a good standard and comfortable. Very central location for everything.
