“Pleasant stay”

Second time at this hotel. Prime location, right in front of a metro station and relatively close to main sites in DC, minutes from the White House.

Breakfast can be crowded but staff is quite efficient - never had to wait too long.

There is a tiny little indoor pool in the basement - small but a nice extra in DC.
Rooms are nice and of adequate quality which is exactly what you would expect when staying at HGI.

Our room was a non-smoking room but sometimes the smell of smoke was noticeable in the hallway and corridor. We did not complain because the smell did not actually enter the room but were just surprised to still find cigarette smell in a hotel these days.

Looking forward to staying at the HGI DC Downtown again.

We stopped here for a weekend getaway as a couple to visit the city of Washington DC. We primarily chose the hotel based on location – literally a block or two away from the White House.

It was a very simple check in – the hotel staff are all very welcoming – all seemed genuinely to acknowledge you as you walked past – this did not seem forced. Jennifer in particular – she was breakfast front of house – spent a good long time on our first morning giving us some local tips on where to visit, but more than that was interested in our own plans.

The room was nicely fitted out – a lovely comfortable bed - with a microwave and fridge in the room as well. As a suggestion, we would ask the hotel to consider some bowls or plates in the room for the inevitable snacks prior to going out.

Buffet breakfast was very nice. It was a smaller choice than other US hotels we have visited, but was sufficient to keep us interested. The staff were keen to serve and really cheerful and we were seated straight away.

We asked for a late check out on the second night, which was not met with the same enthusiasm as the day staff – in fact, was unhelpful because he was not able to make decisions – only the day manager could make this. We would suggest that this could be better.

The work out room and pool were small so we decided against using them – it was glorious weather just walked everywhere to work off some of the great food and drink in Washington.

Overall, it was a good choice - with the hotel well maintained, its location and the (mostly) great staff.

Room Tip: High floor rooms at the end of the corridors are best

We were visiting Washington DC for a few nights for a holiday and were very pleased with the hotel. The price was reasonable and the hotel was in an excellent location near the White House. The customer service could not be faulted.

Nice hotel, as the Hilton Garden's are always very good. The location was very good, right near the Mall, and across from a Metro station. It was close to everything! The hotel bar was comfortable, with a bar, and also a "fireplace" sitting area with couches where we watched football. The mornignn breakfast was very good.

My wife and I stayed here three nights over Labor Day. Hotel was full with a lot of families. Room was stylish and comfortable. Mini fridge came in handy for storing drinks. Good buffet breakfast. There are plenty of nice restaurants nearby. Hotel is located across the street from the Metro, but also within walking distance of the D.C. monuments and attractions. Would recommend for business or pleasure, but especially good for families.

I stay here regularly because it's 4 blocks from my DC office and an easy walk to and from when I'm in town. I'm a Hilton regular around the world, so this seemed like the right choice a couple of years ago, when I started coming to DC regularly for my business.

From the front desk staff to the bell and housekeeping personnel, everyone is eager to please and very friendly. The Grist Mill Restaurant offers both seated and in-room dining and the food is above the normal room service fare.

As a business traveler, I value consistency and a room well-designed for getting work done. You get both and more at this Hilton Garden Inn. Thumbs up for these folks!
