Washington Marriott Wardman Park

I recently stayed at this location for an event where our organization rented the entire space for four nights. The staff could not have been friendlier or more accommodating. They seemed to bend over backwards to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. Easy parking, great curb side service, fast check in, clean, well appointed rooms and super close to the Metro. They were even able to accommodate a visit from Vice President Joe Biden. Loved it!!

Room Tip: We stayed on the 10th floor which had a beautiful view of the Washington Monument

Enjoyed the stay with the diversity summit. Absolute professionalism..room is clean and you can adjust the temperature .. If the bed sheets are a lil thicker for winter time.. Lobby is great and very elegant design. The draw back is that it's a bit far from downtown so ask for an uber ride!

Stayed 5 nights for a conference. Room and bathroom look dated but are very clean and spacious. Front desk staff was also very friendly and helpful. Dined in the restaurant once for lunch and food was great for the price. Hotel is close to the Metro so it is easy to get to Downtown. There is a CVS pharmacy and about 10 restaurants (asian, italian, mexican, fast food) just 5mins walk away. The cafe in the hotel is lovely for a quick breakfast, good selection of food, fruits and teas (better than a Starbucks).

Hotel lobby is spacious and there are computers for guests to use. Lots of sitting areas to enjoy the free wifi that I was able to sit comfortably in the lobby for 2hrs. There are also sitting areas in the room hall.

The Smithsonian Zoo is about 20mins walking distance from the hotel. I enjoyed my stay very much.

I've stayed here twice, both for conventions. The hotel is ideally located in the city, and its services for conventions are spot on. Technology works, Water fountains are stocked, employees bring water pitchers to presenter tables before the shows, and so forth.

The bathrooms are clean and easy to find, and the staff was rather helpful in telling you where to go if you got twisted (not hard as this hotel is a large sprawling convention center of dreams). The staff treated everyone like they were a personal friend, and among the enormous group I was with that treatment was impressive.

The room was clean, the fridge worked, the coffee and tea were stocked (and there's even liquid creamer, not that dreadful powder stuff), and the bathroom was a decent size to not kill yourself moving around in it. Like most hotels, your cell service will work but your internet will be near impossibly slow in the room unless you pay for the hotel's wifi (I got it for free via my conference). But, that little hindrance (which is expected anymore) can be circumvented by sitting in a spot in the lobby, or in the computer center, and using the fast and free services.

Oh, don't forget . . . this one is literally down the hill from the Metro. You get out, turn left and walk straight up. There's a CVS across the street, ATMs, kitschy shops, and great eats there too!

I recently attended a conference held at the hotel. The spaces were clean and well appointed. Staff were very helpful and technology seemed to work well. However, I was dissappointed that wifi for the event was not provided due to what seemed to me an exhorbitant expense charged by the hotel to the conference organizers to provide that service. i was also dismayed by the confusing layout of conference spaces and lack of signage to accommodate wayfinding. The spaces are layed out on a wheel spoke sort of design and one sign directed me 3/4 of the way around a circle to my meeting room. This was very dissorienting when I then had to take the long way around the circle to find a bathroom. The conference had to provide their own signage to direct people. Revising the signage and being less stingy with the amenities would have improved this experience immensely.

The Marriott Wardman Park is designed for conventions, and it was for a convention that we made our most recent visit. On arrival we were struck by the cordiality and concern of the front desk staff; and later that day, by the responsiveness of housekeeping and maintenance to two reported issues. We were on the concierge floor (10) and had free wifi access. Some glitches arose, but immediate access to a help line got things set up immediately. The room was very comfortable and well appointed. Like others, I must acknowledge that the bathroom was small, but it was clean and well provided with amenities. The free breakfast included scrambled eggs on weekday mornings, but on Saturday and Sunday, the only warm option was oatmeal, which was very good. The hospitality lounge is open all day on weekdays, but no evening service on Friday or Saturday'. The layout of the hotel is confusing--it traces its birth back to gradual remodels of the old Park Sheraton--indeed one wing remains, although I gather it has been much renovated. In wandering around looking for meeting rooms, and walking with another guest to one of the more remote room areas, I noticed that all the hotel staff seemed ready and willing to provide assistance. The dining options we tried were the "stone's throw'--which is on the central Atrium and remarkably quiet, although approached through the dense noise of the bar and lounge. One meal at the Irish tavern was satisfactory as well. No haute cuisine here, but quite satisfactory meals with generous portions. (We would have explored some of the interesting restaurants down the slope on Connecticut Avenue, but the cold weather discouraged going out in the evening.) The location is convenient for getting around the city as the Woodley Park-Zoo metro station is just a block from the side entrance. Here I would add a note to intending visitors to DC--if at all possible, buy the SmarTrip plastic card which stores value for the fares--buying a paper ticket involves paying a $1.00 penalty every time!)

This hotel is well-situated, next to a metro station, if not in the center of Washington, and it has good facilities restaurants and shops. It seems to be designed for conferences, as it has a huge amount of conference rooms and auditoriums. The breakfast was fine too. There were some nice touches, like the complimentary warm cider in the lobby. My main problem was with my bathroom, which was disigned for a midget (I'm 5ft7/170com, and I had to bend my knees in the bath and bend my head down to get it under the shower, which was fixed on the wall. The bathroom fittings were quite old-fashioned too. Oh, and the mini-bar was totally empty. No big deal, just details, and overall it was quite OK.
