“Neighborhood Location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 24, 2011

We really liked the location of this hotel: decent Washingtonian neighborhoods. There is a metro stop in front of the hotel. Many neighborhood type shops and restaurants in front of the hotel grounds. Good area to walk around. It is not near the monuments, but we knew that. It is near the Zoo. Good location for college tours of Georgetown. It is a HUGE conference hotel. And, the grounds are correspondingly immense. The metro stop isn’t exactly ‘just outside’ the front door. If this is not what you’re looking for, go elsewhere. The lobby is immense.

Easy enough to drive to/from. We had no issues finding parking on the outside lot. We thought the overnight parking fee a bit steep and worse if you use the valet. There is an Illy coffee shop in the hotel, plus other shops. Our room was on the small side and could use an update. Wifi free in the hotel lobby but you’d have to pay in the rooms. Staff could be a touch friendlier, but normal for what can be expected from a conference hotel [several conferences happening at the same time]. I don't think this hotel is worth anywhere near the 'regular' booking rate, but we got a really good price through one of the online website; under $100/night.

Room Tip: Book through an online website last minute

Visited DC with young kids. Great location to Metro and zoo. The hotel is primarily for conferences but that was not a detractor. There are two issues I had that would prevent me from returning. The first is that I witnessed one of the staff leave the toliet stall then bathroom without washing his hands. I called him on it but just got a blank stare. The other incident involve the loss or theft of personal belongings. After checking out I left some personal property in the room. I called the front desk and was told someone would go to room and it would be retrieved and held. Upon return they informed me that no one went to room and my property was gone, they could do nothing.

Very clean comfortable hotel in nice neighborhood. Metro entrance less than 5 minute walk. Large variety of dining choices within easy walking distance. Zoo is about a 10-15 minute walk. Parking is $32/day.

We booked here via priceline.com for a weekend. We did not use the services of the hotel at all . We only were looking for a nice place to stay in a good location. This hotel is a stone's throw from Woodley Park/Admas Morgan metro stop on the orange line. You are downtown in 15 minutes. A plus we did not expect was the Woodley Park has a nice main street (Connecticut Avenue) with several places to eat and drink. Also, a short walk to zoo and Rock Creek Park bike Trail that leads down to C&O bike trail. The hotel was a typical Marriott - and that means good! As with every DC hotel, the $32 per night charge to park is a down side. If you drive here - plan on a 20-25 ride from the beltway to cover the 6 miles down Connecticut Ave. In case you are lookng for small and intimate - no! This place is the biggest hotel in DC - 1314 rooms. Three restaurants. Huge lobby, it is just big. One thing that was not big - the bathroom. Hard to walk in the door without hitting sink or toilet.

One of the nicest hotels we have stayed in and we travel a large number of days, annually. Great Staff, location and excellent for conferences. Has a great deal of history associated with the hotel and it is within walking distance of great restaurants, the Metro and the Washington Zoo.

Like another traveller I booked this hotel with Priceline and got a very good deal. Then I read several of the reviews, and leveraged others experiences. I asked for and got accomodated in the Wardman Tower - it is excellent! The rooms was specatular with bay windows and huge magnolia trees in full bloom right outside our windows! Its a stone's throw (literally) from this towers' one exit to the elevator down to the metro station - very convenient. There are also excellent restaurants in the street just outside, we tried Labanese Taverna (great dinner experience) and the little Pizza part of Petits Plats (unique pizza for brunch). We didn't try the rest of the hotel (pool, fitness etc.) as we were on a visit Cherry Blossoms trip, so can't speak about those. We did not eat at the hotel either (following advice from tripAdvirsor reviews). But all in all, we had a comfortable and I'd say luxurious stay, at a very good price (Priceline though!).

Room Tip: for large classically appointed rooms, Wardman twr

I stayed at this hotel last weekend to visit family nearby. DC hotels are so expensive, so we put in a blind $90 bid on priceline and ended up at this Marriott. It's huge and beautiful, surrounded by parks and greenery but SO close to the metro line, restaurants and shopping and an easy walk into DuPont circle and The Mall if you have 15-20 minutes to spare. I would hate to pay full price to stay there ($250+) but it's a great hotel!
