This is kind of out of the way, but adults and kids would like it. Might not be as crowded as other attractions, but we learned stuff and liked it!

It is a nice small museum and looked inside for about 1 hour. The official website indicates it closes at 5:30pm but the security started to tell me to leave at 5:20pm. I was a little bit upset that I had an extra 10 minutes.

I visited the following:

-Moving the Mail (saw Owney, the dog)

-Fire & Ice: Hindenburg and Titanic (only until January 6, 2014) - saw postcards and envelopes from the Titanic. There are free postcards of the Hindenburg and Titanic.

-Systems at Work (I learned the US Postal services serves 150 million addresses) - free postcard activity where you "cancel out" the Ben Franklin stamp

-Amelia Earhart's Personal Collection (inside the International Stamp Collection)

I'd love to go back again to visit look at more of the International Stamp Collection. I enjoyed looking at stamps from Poland (mushrooms on the stamp) and Bulgaria (Olympic athletes and Dogs). Some stamps were even in a triangle shape.

Once you pass through the cavernous, empty lobby and enter the exhibit area, you are treated to visually exciting and intellectually stimulating displays that present the history of moving mail. Great fun for both young and old!

Passing by, we only stopped in becasue of the searing heat in DC this July. WOW. What a great place !! Exhibits were interesting and well put together, plenty for adults and kids alike, and actually more interesting that would would imagine the US Postal Service to be. Would reccomend this to anyone visting DC wanting to get away from the crowds at the usual haunts alongside the Mall. Turned out to be one of the unexpected highlights of our trip to DC.

The exhibits are neat and fun. There is a post office with the latest stamps available for purchase.
