“Wait for the Permanent Visitor Center to Reopen”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 12, 2013

...UNLESS the White House Tours have resumed.

But with the tours shut down and the permanent VC closed for renovations there is close to no reason to stop into this overcrowded double-wide trailer. Fortunately, it's only temporary.

“Pass for now”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 14, 2013 via mobile

I would not worry about going to the temporary visit center for now. There was not much in it. A few souviners and a could bits of history about the white house.

“Very disappointing temporary building”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 22, 2013

We went to the visitors centre to find it closed and a notice to say it was in a temporary building. It's about 10 minutes walk away near the white house in a small temporary structure. A few steps upto it and a ramp available. There were a few seats with a film running and a few photos on the wall. 2 staff were behind a very small counter of goodies including pictures, decorations and cufflinks. The security guard was very pleasant but disappointed we made the effort to walk across to it - not worth the trek.

“Temporary visitor center”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 3, 2013

If you are planning a trip to DC then you will certainly know the White House Visitor's Center is being renovated and the temporary location is on the Ellipse. It is located in a trailer. It is run by the National Park Service. Staff stands outside the door to provide maps of The Mall and White House information incase you have no interest in waiting for your turn to enter the trailer. There is an informational video for watching and a small store with items specific to the White House. A park ranger is available to provide information and assist children with the Jr Ranger program or to stamp your Passport book. The trailer is adjacent to restrooms and a concession stand.
