“Fabulous!”
Reviewed December 17, 2013

So glad that I checked on TripAdvisor for new things to visit in Washington, DC! Once I read that someone thinks this cathedral is better than the one in St. Louis - well, I just had to see for myself. While our St. Louis cathedral is gorgeous, this one definitely can hold its own. It is simply fabulous, and I can only imagine how wonderful it must be to hear mass or a concert there. If you are in the area, take the time to admire the beauty and architecture of this church.

“Wonderful atmosphere”
Reviewed December 9, 2013

This is one place that is well worth a visit. We used the metro and the only niggle is that there were no signs to follow so you could have got lost trying to locate the basilica.
It is huge and it is difficult to take everything in so we went around twice just to make sure we hadn't missed anything.
Christ in Majesty is incredible. Although there were lots of people visiting or attending services there was still a prayerful atmosphere.
The gift and book shops have a good range and there is also a cafeteria.

“a place for everyone”
Reviewed December 6, 2013

This is a serene and prayerful place where one can marvel at the distinctiveness and unity of Christian faith. while there are a lot of side chapels, one has the feeling that one journeys with fellow Christian believers at the uniqueness of how God communicate with them. Beautiful place.

“Beautiful”
Reviewed December 5, 2013

Masses are beautiful. The upper church is incredible but the Crypt Church downstairs should not be missed. And then there are the side chapels. The building also has a cafeteria (mediocre offerings) and a gift shop and bookstore.

“THE Place to be on Holy Saturday”
Reviewed December 4, 2013

The Easter Vigil is always a reverent and awe inspiring experience, especially with the addition of the choir and organ. It's not as crowded as you might think. You only really need to get there 20 minutes ahead of time to get a seat. Mass does usually run 2+ hours on that day, so its a great idea to get dinner downtown and then Metro over. The Apostolic Nuncio always has a nice homily as well.
