“Breathtaking and Holy”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 20, 2013

This was our first visit to the Basilica. It was as beautiful as some in Europe. The Mass and Homily felt quite Holy despite the large numbers of people. The many chapels were amazing. We took a guided tour and found it to be worth the time and the guide most informative. We had lunch in the cafeteria after Mass which was tasty and reasonably priced. The gift shop was great! Literally thousands of Rosaries made from many materials and variety of price ranges. And a short walk up the hill from the Metro. Wonderful visit!

“Worth a stop”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 20, 2013

Beautiful church and worthy of a stop on your sight-seeing tour of Washington D.C. This came highly recommended from a world traveler that said it was one of the three most beautiful churches in the world. I haven't see the others, but would love to see anything that compares to thi one.

“Excellent in Beauty”

Whether one is Catholic or not, this is one Shrine one should see when visiting Washington, DC. The main Ceiling will take ones breath away for stain glass windows and paintings. They do give tours too and it might be a good idea to go on tour. It is a beautiful sight at night with the lights on too. Everyone is welcome there also.

“Multicultural Shrine Devoted to Mary”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 17, 2013

I loved the Basilica- extremely large, ornate and well kept on the grounds of Catholic University. Off the main body of the church are many auxiliary chapels celebrating the many cultures where Mother Mary is celebrated: Mexico and South America, Ireland, Japan etc.
