“Cherry Blossoms WDC 2013”

Solemn, repectful staff, free to tour; great gift shop; would recommend for all. Can attend services, can light prayer candles, and pray quietly.

“Beautiful!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 30, 2013

Regardless of your religious background, the Basilica is simply a beautiful place to visit. The peace that you can find while slowly walking around enjoying the murals, paintings, and mosaics is astounding.

“Magnificant Monument to Mary”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 29, 2013

The setting is gorgeous, and it is right on the campus of Catholic University of America. The main church is BEAUTIFUL, and the chapel underneath the main church is used continuously. Even if you don't attend Mass, be sure to visit and eat in the cafeteria. Reasonably priced food and it is right across the hall from a large gift shop. There is a stop on the METRO about a block away from the Basilica.

“Beautiful Place of Worship”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 23, 2013

It is a stunning, immense structure. The interior decor is subdued but enlightening -- you can really learn a few things just walking around the church. The interior walls and ceiling are clad in light colored stone, much of which is marble. I have been to the Vatican and can say that this church is more beautiful than the Vatican. The architecture is very impressive.

“Magnificent Basilica for Roman Catholics everywhere.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 22, 2013

PROS: free parking; knowledgeable tour guide; different replicas of Mary grottos/chapels; beautiful and massive building; extensive selection of items in gift shop. About a 2 hour stop. Mass is celebrated in the different little chapels throughout the day. Serene and well kept grounds.

CONS: mediocre food in cafeteria; can be pretty crowded at times.
