I seldom miss breakfast at the Eastern Market on Saturday morning when I'm in the D.C. area. I love the food and the atmosphere and browsing the permanent vendors inside as well as those set up outside. Always a great morning!
Eastern Market is a treasure trove of goods and experiences. You senses will enjoys all the activity in the Spring ans Summer months. You can get all your a meal, your food items, and more....soaps, clothing, jewelry, and never seem items. And, don't forget the dogs..the place is reaply dog friendly.
And add bonus it the pottery store downstairs. It is easy to miss but worth seeking out.
We enjoyed strolling through the area. We used the Metro Station and had dinner in area. We walked through 5 days in a row. We had NO issues but they do have a homeless problem. It's less noticeable on Sunday and in the evenings and more of an issue when average joes are at work. Someone needs to open up a place to help and that will help this eclectic area prosper.
Many arts and crafts outside with more food inside the actual Eastern Market building. The surrounding area has many boutiques and shops as well as restaurants.
While the start time is listed as 7 AM on Saturday, at 9 AM most vendors had not yet set up. There are 4 types of vendors.....”vintage” furniture, just a few but overpriced, like laughable pricing; farmers market, which is basically fruits, vegetables, meat and fish which come from the same warehouse your grocery store uses. Very little notice of any actual farms represented. Some random food vendors which were unremarkable, And lastly craft vendors with some jewelry and knitted things and other Knick knacks. There is no parking but you should be able to find street parking in the area. Some is metered. If you are close, I’d walk over. But I wouldn’t drive more than 10 minutes to go here. Spend your time somewhere else.
