My sister and I stayed here for one night, 5/25. In order to access the internet we needed to join the President's Club, which is free. But it still didn't allow us to access the internet. We were welcome to pay $13.95 for 24 hours of internet. This was not acceptable when paying high room rates.

The swimming pool is open 0800 to2000, rather than to 2200 as is more common. It cost $5 per person to swim. Again, the room rates are high enough the pool should be free. There are only 4 lap lanes and each lane had 1 swimmer each, who refused to share lanes. They were rude to hotel guests. These are apparently local people who use the pool daily. Those who are serious swimmers understand that it is often necessary to share lanes. Hotel guests should have priority especially since they have to pay.

Thank you for reviewing McBride54487. We apologize about the confusion with the Internet. New President’s Club members are granted complimentary Internet access, but have to charge it to the room until the new account processes. As other reviewers have attested, we carefully review each guest’s room charges and remove the Internet access fee for new President’s Club members. We are truly sorry this information was not conveyed clearly and appreciate your feedback so we can improve.

The swimming pool is open from 0800 to 2000 on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, to reflect patterns we have observed in our guests, but is open from 0530 to 2200 on Monday through Friday. We hope to have you back again so that you can enjoy the complimentary Internet as well as longer swim hours!

We stayed here recently for a graduation at Georgetown with 2 adults and 1 child. Our room was the deluxe version on the interior courtyard on the 10th floor. We were right next to the elevator banks, possibly because we booked through a third party discount site. The elevator became more noticeable during our stay but was fairly tolerable most of the time. Overall, the room was very quiet and the housekeeping staff did a great job of cleaning it each day and respecting our privacy when we used the do not disturb sign after a 2am arrival the first night.

Pros: the bed was comfortable, the room was well lit, lots of seating, availability of rollaway bed even at 2:00am on arrival, large bathroom, solid AC system, location near Georgetown University but about 1-1.5 miles away, 4 blocks to Foggy Bottom Metro where Whole Foods is located as well, easy access to the DC Circulator bus to Georgetown for $1 fare each way, 2 newspapers each day, free wifi if you are a Fairmont frequent traveler club member

Cons: somewhat boring interior that will soon need some renovation, advertised pool is really a lap pool in the privately run fitness center on the lower level of the hotel and is open for family swim only 2 hours each AM and PM and then you still have to fight off the lap swimmers who make you feel guilty about using a lane to play with children, not as many restaurants in this area of town.

We did not really otherwise interact with any of the staff other than catching a cab a few times, though they seemed helpful enough when we did. Overall, this hotel met our needs due to its proximity to Georgetown and other attractions.

Room Tip: interior courtyard room helps to reduce street noise (fire station located 1 block away!)

Napa_neighbor, thank you for staying with us and taking the time to review your experience. We greatly appreciate hearing guest feedback!

Your choice of a Deluxe room was a great idea. Our courtyard is one of our favorite features—we’re glad you liked it too! We’re also glad the comfortable beds were able to ease away the 2 a.m. arrival. That can be rough!

We’ll look into the family swim situation and see what we can do to better represent the offerings. We certainly don’t want to mislead any visitors.

Thank you again for reviewing and we hope to host you again,

The Fairmont Washington DC hotel is located in a very central part of town. It is within walking distance to the famous Georgetown where there are many great restaurants. It is also not far from the local subway so downtown is easily accessible.

Thank you for reviewing Jadeenewheaton! The guest feedback that comes through these reviews is invaluable to us. We hope it is to future guests as well! You make an excellent point about the close proximity of the Metro. We’re close to both the Foggy Bottom and Dupont Circle Stations, so options to explore abound. We’re very glad you took advantage of the opportunity!

I recently had a short stay at the Fairmont DC and loved it! It was very well maintained and the courtyard garden was beautiful. My room was very spacious and also nicely kept. The service throughout was A+. The staff in every area were so attentive and accommodating. I must send a special shout out for Jawad, the bartender. He truly has a gift for making his customer feel special. I would return to the Fairmont DC just to see him! Great job to all!

My sister and I stayed here for two nights to attend a graduation at Georgetown. Due to graduation season, most hotels were full a year in advance. The Fairmount had availability, so we decided to bite the bullet and book.

The rooms are beautifully appointed with extra niceities such as cotton balls and Keurigs. Our beds were comfortable and the check-out time is a late 1pm. The location for Georgetown is ok, to get there it was about a 30 minute walk down M street (which has great shopping, restaurants and bars).

For the price, I expected a little more, however. The fitness center is a dark dismal place, and the machines are just so-so. The pool is located in a private gym complex, and the fee is 10 dollars a day (unless you are a member of the Fairmount's frequent stay club, in which case it is 5 dollars a day). The parking was 45 dollars a night. Breakfast was also pretty outrageous at 25+ dollars for a simple entree. There is a Starbucks across the street that is a much better deal.

The Fairmount is elegant and comfortable, but I am sure that there are other hotels in DC that are equally nice for a better price. I would stay here again but only if I couldn't find somewhere cheaper/better.

Room Tip: See if you can get a room with a balcony over the courtyard

Mpeterson, thank you for the review! We’re glad that you and your sister came to town and had the opportunity to stay with us. We love new guests!

Georgetown University is a bit of a farther walk than the majority of the shops, restaurants and bars in Georgetown, but it looks like you enjoyed the walk getting there! We recommend signing up for Fairmont President’s Club—not only will it reduce the gym/pool fee to $5, but it provides one way BMW sedan service to locations throughout the city. Membership comes with many perks.

We hope to have the opportunity to host you again and to convert you into a Fairmont loyalist. Thank you again!

All the staff were very helpful especially Jawad who ran the bar. Despite being an Arsenal fan (my son and I are Spurs!) he made some of evenings there ver welcoming. Our room had everything you would need and the restaurant had a varied menu. The. Location was ideal for getting to the various landmarks. Thanks for your hospitality!

Now don't get me wrong, I normally don't stay anyplace for $690.00 buck per night. But my Goddaughter is graduating from GW this weekend. At least the valet is only $45.00 per night

Lemante, with a little apostrophe over the E..... They have this person at the front desk with absolutely no ability to smile or talk to people. If it weren't for why I was there, I would have told him to blow his poor attitude straight out his keister.

Two lamps were burnt out, no big deal. No minibar key though? Makes you wonder how long all that stuff has been in there. Makes you wonder if housekeeping is changing expired products. Came down to the desk about this key for the minibar. Was told housekeeping will drop one off in your room. "I can't just wait here for it? You don't have them? I have a DnD on the door." So then Lemante asks if they have permission to just go in anyway. BUT WAIT... Fairmont policy, just so you know, hotel staff isn't even allowed to knock on your door if the DnD is posted. So now this same front desk person who basically wanted to embarrass us checking in, directly contradicts himself with the we can go in anyway if you want. SOLID.

The two photos... The doorknob on the bathroom door fell off and outside the bathroom. Almost positive that is the main reason they have a phone over the toilet. And then the bedding. No mattress cover, just a sheet as a substitute. Isn't that a health code violation in the District of Columbia? Really impressive for a 5-star hotel that charges over 600 USD.

Juniper restaurant and the staff there, were the only bright spot of the last three days. Nora especially. The valet's were also all nice, however they are not employed by the Fairmont DC.

So in a nutshell... If you are only spending the cash for the privacy and you have no plans to ever do anything on the property, or need to receive any form of service there? STAY. At the end of the day, I am not going to get over the treatment at check in.

Room Tip: The crappy rooms are expensive. The good rooms, are beyond ridiculous. Pick for yourself!
