Description: Reservations are not required. Contact us for large parties or special events. Feel free to contact us regarding our seating policy. Yes, we do serve brunch/lunch on Sunday with a great prix fixe including French Toast, Steak and Eggs, Eggs Benedict and bottomless bloody Marys, mimosas and screwdrivers. During the evenings, Medium Rare offers a unique, prix fixe dinning experience of artisan bread; a mixed green salad; prime, dry-aged steak; and hand-cut fries in a relaxed, fun, neighborhood environment. As we do only one thing, we do our best to make the food and experience exceptional and also a good value. There are only a few wine, spirits, and draft beer choices, but each were selected specifically to accompany your meal. We offer an off-the-menu vegetarian option. Please contact us to inquire.

The concept is based on the famous L'Entrecôte (relais de venise) and its several copies in France (salad, "culotte" steak with a refill and fries). The salad and meat were good and the fries excellent. We brought our own wine and it cost 12$ which is reasonable. Service was efficient and friendly. The sauce with the steak is interesting, with a mushroom taste, although not as good as the one from the Paris original (which is a well kept secret). A great DC dining experience and an excellent value.

They're not kidding when they say "Award-Winning Culotte Steak &
Hand-Cut Fries". I love Medium Rare and try to go at least once a month. Definitely one of my favorites places in DC for a good meal. Love the secret sauce!!

Great concept and value for your money.
Service was very good by nice people. Check out the restroom, nice frenchman keeping your company during your stay. Bar is keeping all the best brands.
Well worth a visit.

Almost questioned why there was a menu at all as there is a choice of only 1 salad, 1 cut of steak with 1 type of special sauce, served with 1 type of fries. Turns out this meal, served with a smile, was simply delicious. We'll definitely be back. **Be aware that although Medium Rare offers a wine menu, you can bring your own. We had no issue with the $12 corking fee, but you should know you'll be charged. Also, if you try to reserve using the OpenTable app on a Saturday evening it will say there are no reservations available at requested time. We just happened to be walking past the restaurant and stopped in to ask at the possibility of getting a table. We were seated within minutes. That's when we learned that that Medium Rare doesn't take Saturday night reservations but OpenTable makes it seem that the restaurant is booked for the night. Just call ahead instead.**
