Description: Hill Country is coming to DC! Named "Best Barbecue in NY" by both New York Magazine and Time Out New York, "Top 10 Barbecue in the U.S." by the Wall Street Journal and "Best New Restaurants of the Year" by New York Magazine, Hill Country takes its "cue" from legendary Texas barbecue joint Kreuz Market and its distinctive dry-rub style. Hill Country's brisket, sausage, ribs and other meats are smoked low and slow over Texas post oak. The barbecue is served in butcher paper, counter-style by the pound, with traditional trimmings.

Wasn't planning on visiting, but during a snow day wandering trip, ended up at Hill Country BBQ - what a happy accident! I asked the guy behind the counter what I wanted, and he gave me a delicious sandwich. I also had the corn pudding and cole slaw, and asked for some jalapenos to toss in there as well. It was a little pricey ($21, including tip, I think), especially compared to what I'd expect to pay for BBQ in the actual Hill Country, but it was a nice taste of long-ago-home on a dreary day.

Reasonably priced. Unique "market-style" set up. Fun atmosphere. Melt in your mouth BBQ meats with a rub and sauce that's so good it should be illegal. I had three nights available to go out to dinner in DC...I ate here the 2nd and 3rd night.

OK! BBQ nite. Billed as one of the best BBQ place by Eater DC. Got to try it, it is not a new place. Originated from NYC. In the summer, they also cater at the lawn of the Building Museum. The concept is Texan BBQ, dry rub style. IT is kind of from market to table concept. The food thing about it is that it takes booking, you can do it via Open Table or telephone. Once you arrive, you will be given a ticket for each guests. You then go to the back where there is a huge sign that say order here, you can find the price of the different meat by weight on the wall before you go in. Then you move to the counter to order the sides and there is a dessert counter at the end. Drinks will be served by the waiter. The food is good, the beef brisket is very moist and the ribs are really yummy, the corn casserole is creamy, corn cake is just right consistency. I love it, but it is rather noisy and rowdy. Good atmosphere, I will go back, but probably to the Building Museum ground in the summer.

Loved the food. Really liked the a la carte menu. If you like ShinerBok, they have just about every single type of Shinerbok here. More importantly, the food was just incredible. Must get the short rib and brisket (wet). Simply Amazing.
