“quick & easy, combine your own meal”
Reviewed July 19, 2014

Quick, easy, reasonable compose-yr-own Indian-style meal, choose whether you want bread or rice or vegetables as the base, add meat or vegetables, sauces, mild or spicy. Don't happen to be vegetarian, but this has vegan options. Caught it just before 10 on a Saturday, with a hungry car-full and the other nearby Indian still saying 40 minutes to wait:PERFECT solution. Tasty, quick, inexpensive.

“Cool. ”
Reviewed July 15, 2014 via mobile

Great idea, great tastes, only minus - inside it looks like the worse fast-food. Wide variety of choices to compose your perfect lunch.

“Lovely concept but lack of options”
Reviewed July 14, 2014

The food was Good. Taste was not very Indian but thats fine. The concept is that of Chipotle as rightly pointed out by many other reviewers. The reason I would pick it is because it is conveniently located about three blocks form the national museum of Art and possible four blocks from the Smithsonian air and space museum.

The chaat options were a delight!

“a surprise place”
Reviewed June 23, 2014

after a long wound walk evaluating other veggie places, we ended up here. it was a surprise for us that this was more indian..but i was not for an indian cusine that day. i was a bit hesitant but the chef over there does a good job with the menu. the fusion of indian and mexican was justifiable and filling the stomach as well. please check this place while you are in DC..worth it..

“Chipotle Meets India: Solid Choice for Lunch”
Reviewed June 10, 2014

Take Chipotle and swap out Indian cuisine for Mexican: Presto - Merzi.

Merzi is very conveniently located near the Verizon Center, theaters, and the American Art Museum about 4 blocks north of the National Mall. Like Chipotle, you basically choose your base (in this case rice, naan bread, etc.), a protein (I recall chicken, lamb, and a vegetarian offering), and various spices and sauces. The ingredients are fresh and the food is flavorful.

Some of the reviews on this site note that this is not strictly Indian food, but given that India is a huge subcontinent with over a billion people there are countless variations I'll cut them a bit of slack. Like Chipotle, I think they do a very good job of catching the essence of the cuisine and the freshness and quality of the offerings here is very good. You can pretty much end up with the combination you want.

Merzi provides a nice place for lunch when you have a taste for Indian-style food or just want a change of pace .
