Description: K Street, the road to the White House, is also the proud home to P.J. Clarke’s—the storied American Saloon with a history that dates back to the late 1800s. The original P.J. Clarke’s in Manhattan has stood beneath rows of skyscrapers for nearly 130 years, collecting famous and infamous regulars. Appreciated for the convivial ambiance and classic fare, P.J. Clarke’s is the quintessential American Saloon. In our nation’s capitol, the story continues as oak and mosaic floors, red leather banquets and walls lined with eccentric portraits and nostalgic photos contribute to a reassuring familiarity that is classic P.J.s, but also construe a distinct Washington sensibility. Seasoned bartenders make favorite classic cocktails the right way; dexterous shuckers ply the freshest shellfish at a marble topped Raw Bar; and the old-school, convivial dining room welcomes government A-listers, students and their families and visitors to our capitol.

P. J. Clark's was a great find while staying at a nearby hotel for a weekend getaway in DC. The ambiance was my favorite part with a classy 20's feel that actually seemed authentic, like the place hadn't changed in 90 years but was still in great shape. The service was superb, even at the checkered tables near the bar. The food was also good though we only ordered appetizers. The drinks were well made but a bit pricy. They definitely know how to serve up good food and drinks in a classic American style.

Very pleasantly surprised. I don't live in the US so every time I come to the east coast it's crab cake madness for me. I try them right left and centre and the ones I had at P.J Clarke's a few weeks ago not only remain the best I've had in DC (tried them at 4 other establishments including the legendary Main Avenue seafood market) but were also (controversially!) better than the ones I've had in Baltimore over the week end!

A fine restaurant with a very attractive ambience for an enjoyable experience whether for drinks or dining. In other words (translating to my friends in Jersey), it’s “a Classy Joint” to take a business associate, friend, or a date when hanging out in the President’s neighborhood.

I dined here twice, once for lunch – thought so well of it, I returned for dinner with more folks. I found the Old Fashion Shrimp Salad Sandwich to be an excellent choice for lunch. My cohorts found their choice of meals to be of high quality as well. A very pleasant staff is on board to take care of you. Highly recommended!

Came here with friends for a casual lunch and had the Friday special: Maine lobster mac and cheese. It was a perfect treat - tasty and satisfying. Tried some of the sides - sweet potato fries and creamed spinach - both also terrific. My friends ordered the Seafood Cobb salad and the Turkey Club sandwich and were thoroughly satisfied. The server was entertaining and excellent. I will definitely return for more!

Found it walking, is in front of Hilton Capital. Great atmosphere, great food, great service. Prices average high but worth it, they serve dinner until late and the bar even later.
