We visit this location at least once on our annual visit to DC. This year we had lunch there both days we were in the city, mainly due to our excellent server, Tiffany. We enjoy the atmosphere and comfort of the restaurant, but the service is an absolute standout. The Maine lobster salad is fantastic and reasonably priced at $19. That Capital Grille is a wonderful combination of great food, hospitality, and value.

We liked it so much we went twice during our visit to DC. The bread basket was wonderful. It was probably the best New England Clam chowder I've had. The grilled salmon was very tasty.
The waiters and hostesses were friendly and attentive. Just a few blocks from the National Mall. The ambiance is just what you would expect in downtown DC. I'm sure 90%+ of the clientele were Washington lobbyists and businessmen with the occasional ambassador and his family. We ate lunch and early evening (before 5p) meals there. After 5p reservation is recommended.

Our waiter Bob made the evening so fantastic. The food, the wine and of course Bob made this one of the best meals we will ever have enjoyed. He was worth much more than the 15% tip, and if we get the chance to go back I would definitely ask for a table in Bob's section

We took a group of 8 to Capital Grille, and it far surpassed my high expectations. Several ordered the special salad of the day, and it was exceptional. Ribeye sandwich, greek salad, and several other things were ordered at the table, and all commented on how great it was. Price is on the high end, but well worth it if you're looking for a great setting for a business lunch.

We dropped in from the Mall (only 2 blocks) for a late lunch (Friday at 3 pm). The place was largely empty but that wasn't unexpected. I had 14-oz bone-in sirloin; a fantastic steak ($26 a la carte). Wife had avo/mango salmon salad and it too was great and enough to share ($18). Daughter had caprese ($13) and French onion soup ($8, a little salty, but that's the way most people like it it). All the wonderful bread you can eat. With 2 beers & a glass of wine + 10% tax = $100. Maybe a lot for lunch but filling & good. BTW - make sure you talk loud & drop names ... seems to be the standard here.
