This is the only Presidents house open in Washington and for $10 you can have a tour of the house and hear about the birth of the League of Nations. This s a really intimate small house and well worth a visit.

We visited the Woodrow Wilson House this past weekend. It is located near the embassy section of D.C. on a beautiful street. This was among the best historical homes we have ever visited. Pres. Wilson lived here the last three years of his life, until 1924, and his widow lived here until her death in 1961. Upon her death, the house was donated to the Trust for Historic Preservation. Everything in the house were the possessions of the Wilsons. In the hour or so the tour takes, one learns much about him, his wife and his presidency. It is fascinating to see the clothes he wore, neatly hanging in his closet and the bed he died in. The house is chock full of awards he received and mementos of his 8 years in office. Our tour guide, Aden, was excellent. One could tell he was a real scholar and thoroughly enjoyed his work.

There is a lot to see here. A 15 minute video, presented at the start of the tour, is a great introduction to this man's remarkable life. A must-see in Washington, D.C.

My mother, a serious history buff, and I stopped by for a tour of the Wilson House on S Street and it was a highlight of our long weekend in DC. I feel that many historical homes are too "staged" and a level of authenticity is lost. The Wilson House feels like Woodrow and Edith have just stepped out for the afternoon and left us the key to wonder around. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and even met my mother's standards on historical accuracy. If you enjoy history, and frankly, even if you don't, this is a great way to spend a few hours in DC.
