The food was good enough to actually eat there. Overall and whole place is well designed and a credit to the building it was designed to support.

We had an appointment for our tour which proved to be a good idea since the walk up line was really long. pretty good tour however it was rather crowded and limited in what you can see.

I think the tour is good. In my case the problem was the tour guide, who spent a lot of time talking about himself and not much time about what he was supposed to be talking. I basically lots interest in what he was saying very quickly and tried to read as much information as I could. Good luck on your visit. Hopefully you would get a good tour guide.
The building design is superb! Very impressive! I highly recommend visiting this building on your trip to washington.

The tours offered by the Capitol Visitor Center are good for a first time visitor. But the groups are quite large, and the tour somewhat superficial. If you really want to see the Capitol in depth, contact your Senator or Member of Congress in advance, and see if they can get you a tour. Not only will the group be smaller, but you'll have a more tailored, interesting tour. Plus, they can get you tickets to see the House and Senate in session, which is not a part of the Visitor Center tour.

As visitors from Canada, we wandered into the visitor centre, not realizing we could have a tour. Staff were very helpful and we were assigned a tour guide with a small group. Tour was so interesting, such a beautiful building and we were so impressed by all the information we were given. After the tour we went to the cafeteria in the Capitol building. Lots of food choices and very reasonable.
