We were on a guided tour which included a 45 minute boat trip on the Potomac. Not really worth the effort. As with most short boat trips you go one way down or up the river with some commentary and then turn around and come back. zzzzzzzz

Beautiful and relaxing area accessible from m street in georgetown

Lots of cafes and bars with outside seating, and plenty of boat trips.

Lovely place to relax in the sun. Such a contrast from the concrete jungle of DC ten minutes away.

Fun in any season but resist the temptation to stop in at the admittedly well-sited but wildly overpriced outdoor cafes. Right past Fiola Mare head along the lovely waterfront national park and find the Hershey ice cream parlor under the elevated highway. Take your treat back to the park. In the summer watch kids frolicking in the waterfountain, or climb down the giant steps to feed the ducks and gulls. If you're feeling ambitious climb the steep road and steeper steps toward M St. Resist Dean and DeLuca and find the little old wooden townhouse where Luke's lobsters will sell you lobster rolls and quirky soft drinks that you can take back to the park to watch the river and the Roslyn towers. See, isn't that fun.

The Harbor itself is often bustling and great for people-watching in any season. When its sunny out come the big boats at "ego alley," and watching them, and the overdressed (or underdressed) young ladies who adorn them, is pleasant.

Only fly in the ointment is the occasional self-important and self-entitled but illiterate bicyclist who ignore the barriers and many signs admonishing them to WALK YOUR BIKE. But this is Washington after all, and these folks are much too important to follow safety rules when there are toddlers and strollers to dodge. In fact there is a bike trail nearby, but where's the fun in that?

Nice quiet area where you can relax from the hustle and pace of Georgetown. And Washington . A must place to visit.
